How did I possibly miss this..lol

I had a really really weird dream last night, and I cant BELIEVE I didnt realize I was dreaming..like honestly, it was so stupid and weird. Very vivid though, and rather fun.
Me and a friend were play fighting for whatever reason, and at one point his arm got underneath me and I landed on it. His hand and arm, from about 2 inches below his elbow, completely like..broke off. Like his hand and half his forearm broke off and he had this kind of..weird pointy stub left. It kinda looked like if someone broke off a broom head and only had the splintered pointy handle as a stubby hand. No blood or anything, just everyone seemed rather upset at me for breaking off his hand, but we started having a discussion about how these days doctors can fix everything, and it shouldnt be too hard to get it put back on...now when im awake I realize there were so many signs that I was dreaming, and I didnt pick up on any of them.

What ways work for everyone that help you realize your dreaming, besides using reality checks. Or does it just come naturally with practise and experience? Like..how can you best train your mind not to be so gullible and not to just accept everything in your dreams as plausible and not weird.

I have had that many times. I wake up pissed off that I noticed nothing! but I find becoming more aware of yourself and surroundings can really help you realize something isn't right and lead to more frequent lucid dreams!.
