Question I'm new, need help on creepy DC experience

I've been able to fly for a few years now. I just recenly started reading on lucid dreaming. I've had a few lucids already... over the past month or so. I just found this site and did some reading a few nights ago. I had my most vivid, controlled lucid dream this morning.... I read on dream spinning, and it works wonderfully. The dream really creeped me out. I had been reading threads on DCs. I'm wonder what exactly are they? I'm giving a shortened, version a bit censored but the main parts should come through.

The dream I had I was getting a ride home with someone (a crush) and their form kept kinda changing, flickering into someone I didn't know. They didn't remain who I had origionally percieved them to be. We ended up in an intimate situation... but I stopped it. I knew something just didn't feel right. When I stopped it I felt a kinda painful squeezing on my leg, a reluctance to let go (I think I used spinning to release the grip)... I was a bit scared. I ended up looking back at them, and asked 'who are you', only to have the dc ask who I was. I tried to respond 'I'm lucid' but my vocal cords wouldn't work. So I mimed asleep. Then I woke myself up... first was a false awakening, but it didn't fool me and proceeded to truly wake myself up.

So... what are DCs and can they do us any harm? The thread said DCs could be good... but way to many people put that they could be quite mean, and energy mongers. This is what I stopped my dream... it almost felt like a feeding on my energy.

I suppose they could do you mental harm, but like everything in dreams its all in your head so they cant actually hurt you. everything about DCs is made by your mind, what they look like what they do, what they say. Meaning they arent out to get you (unless you/your mind wants them to be), if you had more experience you could have made that DC be and do whatever you wanted.

if your really, truly lucid - like up there, you wouldn'ta been kreeped out because you would've known it was just a dream so it didnt even matter. You coulda just been like bye and went to disneyworld or something, that's not creepy. I'da gone to the beach though, cuz i like doing that. Or a mountain. To go snowboarding. Dream Snowboarding is off the hook! as a matter of fact...

I think I know which thread you read. It freaked me out a bit when I first read it, too. After reading it I had several dreams (some lucid, others not) where I had weird, sort of scary interactions with DCs.

The subconscious mind is really open to suggestion. Anything you read, see, etc., is fair game for dream content, as far as your subconscious is concerned. Things you have an emotional reaction to are especially likely to show up in your dreams. That's why watching scary movies can lead to nightmares.

You probably thought all the posts about DCs who might prey on the energy of a sleeping dreamer were kind of freaky. So your subconscious mind decided to examine this idea. You ended up with a creepy dream about an odd, preditory DC.

I hope this helped. If you have any questions or need help with anything, just PM me.

You might have been experiencing a LD with a lower level of control, while at the same time subconsciously remembering the creepy things you've read about DCs. If you'd had better control in that LD, you could have more easily shaken off the disturbing feelings and, as Metronome put it, gone to Disney world.

I don't know what thread you read, but now I'm trying to decide whether to look for it or avoid it like the plague...
