      Do you do Reality Checks?

Over the past couple of weeks I've been having more and more LDs however I can only recall one time I did a RC (the one where you block your nose and see if you can breath), most of the time once I think of the word 'dream' I instantly know I'm dreaming, no need to do a RC because I just know. So how many people here need to do RCs to know and how many don't? Does this come with experience or does it vary from person to person?

In the few LD's I've had, I never needed to do a reality check. Someone in the dream just mentioned something about my real life and it clicked. The second time, it just came to me, I knew I was lucid.

I guess during regular dreams I should do reality checks though, since I don't always become lucid. I'll have to practice that.

Most of the time I'm 99% sure I'm dreaming on my own, and then I do a reality check just as the icing on the cake.

I just know 99% of the time. I only had 1 LD where I RCed randomly because I was thinking of dreaming and it turned out I was dreaming. It really suprised me. I consider myself a natural. I LDed like every 10-15 days before knowing what is was. Now it is like once every 2-3 days with a touch of effort.

It also varies from dream to dream. Sometimes you "just know," but other times you are not quite so sure. For example, if I find that I am talking to my dead aunt and that my hair is long again (I cut it months ago), I probably won't bother doing a reality check. However, if I am just having a dream where I am chatting with a buddy at work or something and I get a nagging suspicion that I'm dreaming, then it's reality check time.

However, in any case, a physical reality check is useful as "confirmation" that you are dreaming, even if you already pretty much know the result that you're going to get.

Don't make the mistake of thinking that you are above using reality checks.

I usually just know I am LDing however you have take into regard how long I have been aware of lucid dreams and the amount of lucid dreams over my actual dreams is minute.

I know if I were to RC frequently and make it a habit I would dramitically increase the rate in which I have LD.

Never done one successfully* in a dream before. It normally just hits me.

Im not a natural by any means, its just that so far when I have had LDs I just feel really aware and in control and then Im able to tell just by the dream feeling.

Once you have the experience of how a lucid dream feels, that knowledge pretty much remains within your sub-conscience which can be later used to obtain lucidity in other dreams.
