For me it's as if I know it from the start of the dream. It's like an instict like hunger, thirst, ect. When ever I feel excitement rising, I just know I have to calm myself down. I'll sometimes even warn myself by saying "I'll wake up", even when I know I haven't came to the concious reasoning that I'm dreaming.

I'm pretty sure I'm not simply dreaming about LD. There is some form of sense in the dream. I may carry out my desires, just not in a "voice in my head" confirmed fashion.
I think there is 3 types of lucid dream.

1. You know you are dreaming, but you don't recall your waking life personality or where your body is laying at.
2. You know who you are, you know exactly where you laying down. You able to control the dream.
3. You know you are dreaming. You know everything in the dream is you. You control everything with absolute knowingness. No emotions. Nothing is hidden, you are one with everything.

I agree with godlike comment. I think what you are experiencing is result of a lot lucid dreams and now whenever you dream your common thought is to control the dreams naturally. Its your dream personality. Thats very good. But still not fully lucid or aware that you are dreaming. Our greatest ideial is being formless and being completely in the now.
