      Certain person to WILD

I have browsed these forums for a while.

I started lucid dreaming over 2 years ago and have made consistent attempts at WILDing over a year and a half.

I know WILDing is a difficult step for many people. In my experience, no matter how close I get, I can never seem to pass that hurdle of jumping into the dream. I have experienced everything that is described, even the transition into a dream. The problem is, I can only enter immediately after I exit the dream and typically have to be in SP during this period. It is rare that I exit into SP, so it is entirely unreliable. I cannot seem to WBTB. I have tried every technique. I have been fairly diligent with my efforts.

The longer I wait on a WBTB the harder it is to enter the dream world (obviously). I try to remain awake for only a small period of time. No matter how I adjust it, I never get any decent results. I have even begun attempting in the afternoon. I have occassionally reached the point where I feel like I am falling, but can still never finish the process (I have also RCed just in case I did enter a dream).

No matter what I do, it doesn't seem to work.

The question is, do you think it takes a certain type of person to WILD?

Theoretically, since everyone dreams, it should be possible for everyone to WILD, but I am not convinced. It might take a certain type of concentration that some simply haven't discovered, or maybe cannot acquire for various reasons. I have been told to keep trying, but that is not very assuring since I have been doing so for nearly 2 years.

Ive never heard of WILDs being only for certain people, especially if you've made it that far many times. I think your problem is a very common, but very difficult one nonetheless. I think you are getting excited and causing yourself to awaken. Now you might not think you are, but there is simply no other reason why you would continue to awaken after you've gotten this far that many times.
This happened/happens to me a lot of times where I would be virtually at the edge of SP and practically in the dream world but would seem to awaken for no reason. The cause is most likely the sudden awareness of whats going on that causes excitement which lets your body know that you're not asleep (unconscious) nor ready for SP. Another thing is, you've been trying to WILD for 2 years which brings about a lot of anticipation when getting closer and satisfaction when complete; both of which are emotions that signal to your body that you're not asleep yet. Remember, our bodies dont want us to be conscious/aware when we're asleep/dreaming so you have to do everything in your power to not tip them off and let them know that you're still awake.
This is why WILDing is a very complex skill to master; one of which Im fairly good at but have yet to come close to mastering. Ive had a lot of exprience w/ SP in the past which is why I know how to deal w/ it somewhat. But the key really is to just keep practicing and getting used to it.
You really shouldnt give up, especially if you've gotten that far. So keep it up, and you will get it.

I have thought of that too. I have done some meditation and practice over controlling my excitement, especially in the afternoon.

I generally think i have pretty good control over it, but you might be right - I might be experiencing without even being aware of it. If that is the case, how can I possibly conquer it? If I am not aware of it, how can I control it?

I have practiced so hard trying to tweak anything that might be hurting my results, yet it all seems in vain

I am not about to give up, but I do wonder if it takes a certain type of person to do it in the first place.

You should definitely continue with your meditation and keep practicing your WILDs.
It is very to difficult to actually control emotions so the best way is to acknowledge whats going on while trying to ignore any significant changes. Try to be apathy-like when all these changes are happening. A lot of people talk about trying to pull your dream body out once you've gotten so far but I, myself, just wait for the whole process of SP to be complete before attempting anything. And if/when you make that far again then try not to do anything when you first realize that you're asleep and dreaming. You can also try spinning or rubbing your hands to stabilize the dream and prevent you from awakening.
