      OBE or Different LD?

Lately, I was thinking about OBEs. Are OBEs real, or are they just a different type of Lucid Dream? I'm not denying OBEs (I've never had an OBE), but with my religious beliefs, to me it seems like you would die if you didn't have your spirit in you for a while. So I was thinking, What if OBEs are just a different type of LD? What do you guys think?

Im kind of curious about this as well. I just started reading LaBerg's book and he asks a question to those who claim to have OBEs or astral projections and believe they are linked to reality. He says something along the lines of this:

Open a book and turn to a random page. Read a paragraph and close the book. Then open to that page again and read the same paragraph. He then says to make your own conclusions from there.

Has anyone tried doing this in a OBE or astral projection? Was the paragraph ever the same, and did you open to that page in reality when you woke and did it read the same?

I believe that AP is really just false awakening, and until I experience one or read some scientific proof I dunno, I'm gonna have a hard time buying it.

Some types of OBEs have been "scientifically documented" (don't ask me for proof I just read that somewhere like wiki and I doubt it just as much as you!), I tend to think that there are certain times at which your body is so screwy it just needs to throw you out of perspective, like when they say people in car accidents have OBEs. Why not, your body knows all the information it's probably easier to let you see the experience from out of the car than in it (or through it, as it were).

If someone did an experiment, like wrote a secret codeword in another room, and then someone was supposed to AP and go to that next room and could accurately read the words, then maybe I'd buy into it. The fact that such a simple experiment hasn't been documented...

Haha, yeah. That's kinda what I was thinking. If I get good at OBE's then I'm definitely gonna try something like that.

Starting a debate is definitely not my intention because this is probably not the right place for it, and it would probably be pointless. But I would like to hear the point of view of someone who has OBEs and Astral Projections and believes that they are linked with reality. I am just curious as to what causes you to believe this? Is it the fact that it seems so real? or is it the fact that it is so different from a normal dream? or what?

And maybe someone who has never experienced OBEs or Astral Projections but believes in them would like to share their point of view. It would be welcomed b/c I for one am open-minded and curious about this.
