Are all Dream Guides supposed to be... helpful?

Well, in my latest LD, i tried to summon my dream guide. Out of nowhere this midly obese black lady runs down my block and stops in front of me. She said she was my dream guide, but when I asked questions she gave stupid answers (i dont remember the questions/answers, but i clearly remembering thinking wtf, theres no way shes my dream guide). So she said that she wanted to bring me to her house, so she led me to this underground apartment that was prety much an empty room with a big desk and a computer. I saw blackjack books on the table and asked her if she was a card counter (one of the books was on counting cards). She immediately got up and chased me out of her "house" with a bat lol.... I'm not sure if I had complete lucidity the whole time, a reasonable explanation for me would be that maybe I lost lucidity and it just became a normal crazy dream afterwards... that may be false though, maybe my dream guide is just a stupid, violent black gambler? lol, any opinions would be great

Some random dream characters claim to be dream guides, even though the aren't.

Hmm DGs... well I try my best I have never experienced a DG so I still have trouble believing in them. So I can't really say. I thought the point was that a DG was a sort of helpful mentor, though, so I'm guessing that if it's not helpful, it's not a DG. I mean we name them, not them, and so if it isn't guiding you, I wouldn't call it a dream guide.

when u meet ur DG, you'll know it. I've met lots of intersting people, all of which were just people I would conversate with, but I don't think any of them were DG's cause I would never see them again. It doesnt have to be a person, but everyone always thinks their DG is a fox, lion or wolf or sumthin mythical like that. reminds me of that Simpsons where Homer eats that bowl of chili and that turtle is trying to draw him a message in the sand, but its walking really f*ckin slow so he kicks it, and then he see's his DG, a talking coyote. that sh*t was funny cause he wakes up and he's like "Oh it was just a dream, and that talking coyote was just that talking dog over there (looks at dog, dog speaks to him). Wait a minute... dogs don't talk (looks back, dog barks). Thats more like it."
Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead...only try to realize the truth. There is no spoon. Then you'll see, that it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.

I would have thought a dream guide is just a fabricated character.
Your talking to yourself. The dream guide gives you guidance because that is what you expect it to do.

That is SO one of the best episodes of The Simpsons! Very close to a lucid dreaming theme When you see it you're like... "HEY!!!! He should RC!" lmao

Maybe she was trying to give you a message that you don't fully understand. For example, are you currently learning to count cards or something?

No matter if you want to classify her as a dream guide or not, she did appear after you asked yourself for guidence.

It's your brain. Whomever you call a dream guide is a dream guide. Some manifestations of your subconscious are just more helpful than others.

The first MILD lucid dream I had after starting back at it involved me walking around
with an old work mate (now retired).

He kept pointing at things saying "isn't that strange", "isn't that weird" etc.
Eventually I cottoned on and realised I was dreaming.
I guess I could call him a dream guide, but really it was my sub-conscious giving me hints.

Dream Guides are just normal dream guides who you allow to be a bit smarter than the rest. My advice would be not to give a dream character such respect. This doesn't mean be nasty, it just means don't give any sort of authority or emotional attachment to them - this is where death to your dream control can occur. Have a look at my guide for a better explanation.

thanks for all the replies guys, its kinda dissapointing, i thought my dream guide would give me new insight into my life and help me solve some problems lol... oh well

as for the person who asked me if i was learning card counting, i have been trying to make a program to card count online gambling sites by watching the incoming packets and recording the cards played, so you may be right that this is some kind of message from my subconscious. It may even have been an omen that I would fail, because every online gambling site I tried randomized the deck after each turn which made the counting ineffective

Thats still do-able. Your dream characters are essentially you or your sub-conscious. They can still give you insight into your life and problems,
      as can the dream scenarios.

They're just not some magic mystical being.
