      Semi-lucid but not quite there

Hi, I'm not entirely certain if this is the right area for this but we will see how it goes...

Several times recently I have had dreams where I have thought 'Hey, this is a dream, I can do whatever I want!' but I'm still not really conscious or in control. This seems to happen most often when I haven't been making any real attempts to LD for a while, and is especially annoying since every time I DO try to LD using any techniques, I either can't get to sleep at all or I just fall asleep normally.

So, if anyone has any suggestions on how I can actually take control of these sudden flashes of consciousness or whatever you want to call it, please tell me. And when I say suggestions, I don't mean a normal LD technique. I mean, is there a technique which will actually let me become fully lucid if/when this happens again?

      Thanks

From your description this sounds more like "dreams about being lucid" then actual low-lucidity dreams. Since you don't become conscious there really isn't anything you could "do" in those situations. You should just try to become lucid using a standard method, but without getting stressed about it. (You've probably already read on this forum that stress (of any kind) tends to deminish your chances.) I'd suggest just performing RCs and keeping a dream journal until you grow comfortable enough with the concept of LDs to try MILD or WBTB again. You should get some lucids (or at least some sleep) that way.

It's certainly possible that it's dreams of lucid dreaming, but it definitely feels different whenever that happens. I don't know, it still could be. Anyway, thanks for the advice.
