Making yourself go to the state of half-sleep

Someone told me today that if you hold your hand up towards the celing, when your arm gets tired and you have to keep moving it down this will help you get into the state of being half-asleep like then you just wake up.

Is that true? If so it can be useful for if you wake up and have moved around a bit.

I guess this would work, sounds like the progressive method I use to fall asleep sometimes, where you hold muscle groups tensed for a while a few times, then move on to the next group, until your whole body is tired and relaxed.

A person told me that laying with the feet along with the wall (you lay on the floor like a "L" with the feet in the air), anyway doing that for 15 minutes should be like one hour of sleep i thought it was.
