      Rapid eye movements fully conscious

When I was lying in my bed a while ago, trying to relax, I suddenly felt my eyes moving erratically from left to right. I was fully conscious when this happened, although deeply relaxed. At this time nothing further happened, but I have experienced it once before when meditating. That time it went further into the vibrations that precede lucid dreaming, but it went no further. Could this be the same eye movements as in REM-sleep? Has anyone had similar experiences?

This happens to me occasionally... I listened to a lucid dreaming mp3 a few times of a babbling brook a few years ago and it started since I listened to that! whenever it happens i remember that dumb mp3...

It happens to me if I go to sleep without being too tired. As in, I go to sleep at my usual time (like 11:00 pm) but I'm not yet tired from the day. Sort of like if im forcing myself to sleep.

      yea

oh i know what you mean. and for some reason i could manually move my eyes left to right just like that. and when i do so (with my eyes closed), i would feel like im in another dimension going back and forward very very rapidly (or it could be going left to right, or diagonally). and sometimes this would lead straight to SP. and other times i try to keep the back and forward feeling as i open my eye, and if it continues, it would be a lot stronger, then i would be able to see a light in a shape of a diamond in the middle of my forehead. any explanations or similar experiences?

Happened to me this weekend too. Felt my eyes starting to move and waited a bit longer. During the following shaking sensation, I rolled my body to the side and was standig lucid in my bedroom....
No sound or HI, must have been a silent WILD...

same thing has happened to me once before. I tried to stay calm and awake to see if tis was a prelude to something, but I just fell asleep after a while.

      Short answer: no.

The rapid eye movements of REM sleep are not random eye twitches. During REM periods your entire body becomes paralyzed to prevent you from acting out your dreams. The only exceptions are your diaphragm and eyeballs. The rapid eye movements are the result of you looking at and following dream imagery. So the rapid eye movements of REM sleep have nothing whatsoever to do with these eye twitches that you are reporting.

You were conscious and moving your eyes..?

I believe you are simply referring to saccades.
