      opposite effect of stabilizing?

I had a lucid dream last night and i rubbed my hands together
Instead of making the dream more vivid, it made it more blurririer until it was very dark.
But after 5-10 seconds, it became vivid again
      what happened?

If the dream is going to fade, sometimes you just can't stop it. The first time I used the hand rubbing technique, it barely helped at all and the dream still faded.

Also, some techniques work for some people, but not for other people. So far, for me, the best stabilizing techniques I've found are touching/licking things and looking at something briefly that I know is there (something that was clear before you started losing clarity).

This happened to me too but then in the same dream I did the method of spinning in a circle and that helped me recover.
