I've only had 2 lucid dreams in my life. Both times I was trying to have a lucid dream using a few methods that I read online such as drinking a lot of water before bed, and using 'checks' to see if you are dreaming or not.

The first time I realized I had a LD I was standing next to a coffee table talking to friends. I glanced over at the TV and I noticed a television show on. I took note of it, looked away, glanced back and it was a different television show. Realizing i was lucid, i looked at a coffee mug on the coffee table and told it to move. It slid towards my hand, and it worked. It immediately startled me awake unfortunately.

My second dream I was in a car driving by myself on a road. I forget what notified me that made me lucid, but I made the car fly, and flew it around the city for a few minutes before waking up.

Wish I could have a few more .. I stopped actively trying and I should really get back into it.
