      Speech on Lucid dreaming!

ok, so I am in 4-H I dislike it, and I lead the teacher onto believe I am good at speech.
Probably because I am an Illusionist, and I communicate with a bunch of random strangers and in 10 mins there my friend lol..

so what kinda things should I cover in my speech? its 5-7 mins long.. I wish it could be longer theres so much to talk about..
I just cant get into all the dream world, and shared dreams and stuff like that..

Personally, I wouldn't go into stuff about shared dreaming and other (possibly, no flames plox) supernatural subjects. I would try to keep it on the provable and verifiable topics, like dream signs, stuff that induces higher vividness/clarity etc.

Kaniaz has a ton of links that might be helpful. I'd also suggest talking about stephen laberge and his books if you want to have some credible sources. What is your speech going to be about. An overview of what lucid dreaming is in general? Research about lucid dreaming? Uses of lucid dreaming? Assuming it is about lucid dreaming in general you might want to talk about theraputic uses(nightmares, phobias etc.), scientific research on it, maybe briefly talk about some of your experiences. Good luck, let us know how it goes.

I've kept a speech in english (not my native language).
I spoke about dream cycles, what LD is, RCs, stuff to do, my experience, how to WILD, difference ways to get lucid, HI, SP and lots of other stuff

      1) Introduction, what is lucid dreaming? You will discuss what lucid dreaming is and some of the things that you can do in a lucid dream.
      2) You can go on discuss the bodies REM cycle and go on to talk about which stage of the REM cycle lucid dreams occurs in.
      3) You can go onto to talk about some pioneers in the lucid dreaming community such as Stephen Laberge and possibly include some of his techniques on obtaining lucidity.
      4) You could prolly talk about other dreaming phenomena (you could include astral projections and OBE's, but go onto say that you personally don't believe in this however there have been recorded experiences etc.)

That should give you well over 5 minutes to talk about this.

I wouldn't waste time talking about sleep cycles. Mainly because they are irrelevant to the layman. Look how much confusion it's caused to people who read about lucid dreaming every day. Better to just avoid them, or to print a handout of the sleep cycle just so that you can say, "If you're interested, look at this and try to wake up at X point during your sleep cycle to WILD." I would talk about the research supporting that LDing is legit, then common induction techniques + how to build recall (very simple... RCing, DJing, Autosuggestion), and then some of the more advanced techniques (without saying they are that much more 'advanced', WILD- specifically DEILD). THEN I would talk about benefits.

Please for gods' sake steer clear of new age type stuff, anything about shared dreaming, etc. The people who are interested in that interpretation of lucid dreaming are going to be motivated to research it on their own after your presentation. Everyone who is skeptical is going to dismiss your presentation if you take that angle, I think.

6 minutes? Man, I've gotten spoiled. I usually get at least a half an hour. I'd never be able to shrink a speech into 6 minutes. Start fast and don't address questions until the end.
