      Here we go again...

      Greetings,
This lucid dreaming thing fascinates me no end. The idea of being able to become conscious during dreaming is terribly exciting to me. The problem is, after reading a number of books on the topic and practicing all kinds of techniques and using supplements and practicing intent, etc, etc, I've been less than successful in my attempts.
It has occurred to me that as a smoker I have probably damaged the acetycholine receptors in my brain. I've read the posts here on the topic as well as talked to several physicians about it. I know that there are those of you who smoke and who lucid at will. I've tried everything I can think of to induce LD's. I've now quit smoking after several decades. I'm not quite two weeks "clean" from all nicotine (I smoked the triple threat: cigs, cigars, AND a pipe). While I am aware this might well save my life, my more immediate hope is that the receptor sites will repair enough to allow me to LD.
My plan is to wait a couple more weeks, then start the disciplined routines I've practiced in the past again. Wish me luck!!
Dream Big, Live Large.... BTW, can you breath with your nose pinched shut?

Pipes and cigars are fine for you in moderation, as long as you only smoke pure tobacco and don't inhale. Snuff is OK too but I tend not to snort it in public in case people think it's coke.

      Good luck.

i hope you succed in your lucid dreaming quest. Just remember to do reality checks, and watch out for your dream signs. And read as much as you can about lucid dreaming, especially before bed. Because whenever i read something online about lucid dreaming, i always have a lucid dream that night or if not that night and i wake up in the middle of the night, it'll be the second time i go back to sleep. Every night before bed i come to this sight and read about lucid dreaming, at least for me it always works, i hope it works for you and others.

Trust me, once you get those lucids happening it will be motivation enough to quit for good haha
What sorts of things have you tried so far? If you list them, we may be able to help you narrow down what may work best or what you may have been doing wrong.

My mom has been smoking for 30 years, and she managed to have ten lucids in the past 6 months without actively trying. Imagine if she had set her mind to it like you have... I think there's hope for you!
