      Semi-Lucid Dreams, Why They're Annoying:

It's probably been discussed before (obviously), but damn this aggravates me so much. Lately (again) I've been trying to get back to LDing. My motivation comes and goes, but it's strong when it's around. The thing about this, though, is that I have semi-lucid dreams constantly. I can't exactly say every night due to lack of proof that it's semi-lucid.

Why am I sick of semi-lucid dreams? Because I'm sitting here, wishing and trying for a lucid dream. Yet, when I dream, most of the time some part of me knows I'm dreaming. I know this because I may hint it during thoughts or quotes. Just last night I was walking through an old factory. There was this scary character from a movie in the same room as me, and I put my hand out in front of my view of her so I can't see her. I thought to myself, "If I see her, I'll probably freak out and wake up." Yet, I wasn't even realizing that I was dreaming.

I'm sure there are some who know what I mean. It's so annoying to have this happen right in front of me when I've been trying to achieve lucid dreams.

I'm completely there with you. I just feel stupid after those dreams and like I missed out. The only positive I see in those dreams is that they seem to be a bit more memorable to me and on occasion they will become full fledged lucids.

Noooooooo! Don't think of it like that.. Instead of looking at it as a bad thing, take the perspective that you are that much closer to having a full-out lucid dream.

A large portion of skillful lucid dreaming is confidence. If you don't believe in yourself, it really can hurt your chances at having more frequent full lucidity. Instead, pat yourself on the back for getting so much closer to having a real one. If you let yourself feel like an idiot for missing your chance by such a close margin, it can effect your future lucid dreams.

Anticipate good things, and appreciate how far you've come. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Oh dear God, you're right. It's sooooo frustrating... but like mentioned above it's actually a *good* thing. I've always treated semi-lucids like an indicator of impending success, but at the same time you can't help but feel upset over the missed opportunity.
