Talking ZING! Dream Sign and beginning of REM sleep figured out.

Dream sign is school friends, being at school, forgetting stuff at school, etc.

My REM cycle starts at exactly 5 hours and 40 minutes after falling asleep.

How can I use this to my advantage? Search button doesn't like me : (

I just suffered from short term memory loss, oh boy. I created a thread about this earlier in the dream signs sections.

A Mod can delete this or the other one if they want. Thanks!

I can't find your other post so I'll reply to this one.... You say your REM cycle starts 5 hours 40min. If it's constant you can use external stimulus to trigger or if you are not comfortable with that then you still have your dreamsign....

You can do that by seeing the elapsed time from when you slept to when you wake up from REM.

Stab in the dark here, but I'm going to guess you're still at school.

Your talking about your last REM cycle right?
We have numerous REM cycles through the night, from the point we go to sleep. The final rem stage gets longer as the night goes on, which is why its better to have lucids in the morning.

Do you bother with stage 1 of the MILD technique.

I find I can remember 2 to 3 dreams periods on a good night.
Worth doing because the more you experience your dreams the more used to them you will become and the more chance you will have of becoming Lucid.

Another plus, lucid or not, dreams can sometimes be amazing.

I guess that's where I need to start, thanks and Yup I remember about 3 dreams on average and 4 on a good night. When I drink green tea I can't remember any which is strange

No, your REM cycle is your REM cycle. You have no way of possibly knowing if you are in fact in REM (unless you are monitoring your body very precisely with certain machines, like a polysomnogram or maybe if someone wakes you up because your eyes are going insane) or when a REM period will be, though you can estimate it within a chunk of time. http://www.dreamviews.com/sleepstages.php

I just know my Rem cycle because of this, you wake up after every cycle, I calculated how many times I awake and normal rem cycle is... About 5-7 hours after sleeping. I wake up naturally at 5:41 or around that time. (I go to bed at 12 ).

You people are just lazy...it's a simple thing of checking the time you wake up and remember dreams... shesh. Besides once you have your REM it's usually constant unless you sleep really late. If you want the precise REM than you'd need a sleep lab with Laberge.

Really? Have you tried it? Using those machines in your home?

Where in the world would I get a polysomnogram from? My school has a sleep lab, but I don't. Hence, I have no way of accurately knowing precisely which stage of sleep I am in at a given time.

Heh, I can't really tell when my REM starts. Sometimes it happens just three hours into sleep, or five/six hours other times.

I've often gone to sleep at 10.30 and woken up at 12.30 after a dream.

You could also be dreaming an NREM dream.

From what I can gather Nrem consists more of thoughts, and focus on something thats on your mind. Like those times where you feel you've been up all night thinking problems through, but of course you haven't.
      http://www.intropsych.com/ch03_state...rem_sleep.html

What I'm talking about are fairly vivid normal REM dreams.

Your first rem cycle takes means that dreams occour about 90 minutes after sleeping.

If I go to bed at 10.30, then 12.30am to 1ish will be the perfect time for the 1st REM Period.
