      Smile Lucid Dream Games

I love LDs like everyone here (well like almost everyone here). The upcomming week is exams week for my school and I have no exams that week so I'm staying home and I found some Lucid Dreams movies to watch (on youtube for free, LOL!) I was also wondering if there were any PC games about Lucid Dreaming. I couldn't find any but I've heard of it and I really wanted to play one. Thanks

What exactly would be the purpose of playing a lucid dream game? Maybe you could enlighten us, as I've never heard of one.

I know, lucid dreams will always be the best but I mean, while in real life, I'd just like to know if there's any games that the plot is about LDs OR books (stories_)

Never heard of that kind of game.

Have you seen the movie "Waking Life"?
PLot: Waking Life is about a young man in a persistent lucid dream-like state. The film follows its protagonist as he initially observes and later participates in philosophical discussions that weave together issues like reality, free will, our relationships with others, and the meaning of life. Along the way the film touches on other topics including existentialism, situationist politics, posthumanity, and the film theory of André Bazin.

I think, what kind of movie is it? ANyways, from a tutorial on this site, I found these The Butterfly Effect, The matrix, Vanilla sky, What Dreams May Come and Waking life but when I was going to look it up on youtube, I had to leave so i didn't get to see what it looks like.... What is it like?

[EDIT] I read the 'plot'. Looks interesting, is it a comic or a movie? 'cause it seemed to be a moive from what I found yet.

Perhaps you've missed the part where
      you go in people's dreams?
This theme is also present in Okami (although it is not a major part).

      And Waking Life sucks IMO.

      It looks like a cartoon, but it is actually a proper movie. This is from the Wiki;

"Adding to the dream-like effect, the film used an innovative animation technique based on rotoscoping. Animators overlaid live action footage (shot by Linklater) with animation that roughly approximates the images actually filmed. A variety of artists were employed, so the feel of the movie continually changes. The result is a surreal, shifting dreamscape."

It is a brilliant film, and I strongly recommend every lucid dreamer should see it. Its what changed my life and turned me to start lucid dreaming!

I enjoyed Waking Life. The discussions go about stuff I'm into. If you're into (pseudo-)philosophy, you'll enjoy it

I think that someone could develop a nice adventure game that has the character (and by extension, the player) learning about different aspects of lucid dreaming as the levels play out.

Of course, it would have to be in the context of some sort of "adventure" or purpose for learning the techniques, with several other quests and stories added to give the game some variety.

I could see it being a good way to instill reality checking as a habit, as the player has different opportunities throughout each game level to reality check (by pressing a certain key or key combination on their keyboard...perhaps "RC"?); for example, if the player reality checks immediately after certains cues happen (say, the walls move slightly or irrational things start going on), then they go into a state of "lucidity" whereby they can break the laws of physics, etc.

Anyway, it seems like there have been many people on this board who have begun development of various forum based RPGs and Flash games, but I have yet to see any commercial game developed that has lucid dreaming as its central focus.
