      dream object question...3d?

are the objects in our dreams 3 dimmensional?
if not, are they just images? but is there an other side?

the only way i could think this could be figured out is if mutual dreaming is truly possible.

they may appear to be 3d because of visual perspective (identifying a pyramid instead of just a triangle for ex.) but that can easily be done in sketching and paper is only 2d

      idk... may require further research
maybe its just a dumb question

if you want them to be 2d, they will be. Or if you want an anime type dream like(Bleach, or Naruto) then it will be so. you can only limit yourself because you are limiting yourself. I hope this helps.

well i mean more like if objects that appear to be 3d in dreams are they really or just images? the 2d cartoon would actually make since because of you can't see around them. but this whole thing about 3 dimmensions in dreams is puzzling to me.

maybe they are 2d but you perceive them to be 3d. for example like a 3dimmensional pyramid drawn on a piece of 2dimmensional paper

Well when i have none lucid dreams(which sadly is all the time) i remember that all objects are 3d, i run around them, they have curves and i can feel, I remember just last night i had a dream where i was chasing someone, and somehow i ended up in this weird cage pool and i saw this lady in front of me working out. So i jump on this horse looking thing and attempt to work out, i could feel the curves and the pain, since it like pulled me hard on it i could feel my chest go, OOUCHH!!!!

I hope that answer your questions!

If you want them to be, yes.

      //down: dimensions are a concept.

The dream world is a different form of reality. You can't apply 'dimensions' to it, because 'dimensions' are for the physical world.

one thing I can say is I can definitely see depth, tell distance , have feelings of vertigo when jumping/flying so in that sense yes, but not as much depth as I see on my 3d LCD monitor, however I'm sure they can be either 2-dimensional or 8-dimensional with enough practice and imagination

If you apply that idea to the dream world, why wouldn't you do the same to the real world. Not only is it the dream's "source files", but you also experience it the same way... you can walk, talk, fell, see and hear (most of the time) the same way as you do in waking life. The only thing that changes when you start dreaming is input, by that I mean from external input to internal. When you're awake you also see things in "2d". I mean is there some other way of seeing things? Is there such a thing called 3d vision where the 3d object is recreated in the eye and then totally sensed in the brain as it existed when you saw it? Well even if this is possible it's not so at the moment. When you see a thing a picture is made in the sense that the photons hit your photoreceptors. So you can only see in 2d.

not true at all my good sir. close one eye and try walking around for a bit- try reaching behind objects so that your hand is as close as possible but without touching. Plus if 3d-vision didn't exist IMAX and also the company that makes my 3d monitor would go out of business

The human eye sees in pseudo-3d. We only see two 2-dimensional perspectives of an object at once, giving depth perception. Seeing in full 3 dimensions would require a 3-dimensional retina.

Then tell me, in general, how does this 3D vision works. I've told you why it's 2D. Now it's your turn I guess.

Definitely 3D, but if you can't see the other side of something, or are otherwise not aware of it in some way (sound, smell), then it doesn't exist.

If you can't see what's on the other side of a brick wall, there is nothing on the other side until you walk around and look.

we are walking, jumping and flying in our dream spaces.so it is obviously 3d
you can't walk into an image..

      also think we are living in a 3d world.not 2d or 4d.
and our dreams gets stuff from real world.

      it's like video games.

lots of images that are binding onto itself, creates 3d.

I've had dreams that were 2D before, mainly ones where I was intertwined with some random Anime.

Interesting question. Especially if we go a step further and ask

"Is it 3D when we look at it or 3D when we interact with it?"

For example in the 3D gaming world it's much easier for a developer to show the gamer the front of a castle than it is to create the entire interior of the castle unless you're going to be going in it. The brain during a dream apparently is doing some incredible processing creating complex dream worlds so what if an object such as a castle is not fully built until you decide to go in it.

If I was your brain charged with simulating reality I sure would throw all kinds of incomplete 2D images around you until you decided to interact with an object. Then and only then would I go to the extra effort of rendering the entire object in 3D.
