      What is this WILD thing?

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right folder or not...

But I've browsed quickly through some of the threads and I've heard the term "WILD" used, and was wondering if someone could give me a brief definition of this? Is it an anacronym? I assume (I don't like to assume things, but...) that the "LD" in "WILD" stands for Lucid Dreaming... something I used to be very good at, including pretty good dream control but due to various health issues that cause sleep problems, I haven't done much of LD contol recently, even though my dreams continue to be very vivid.

      I must not fear.Fear is the mind-killer.
      I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
      Only I will remain

WILD stands for Wake Induced Lucid Dream.
Its where you start dreaming without losing conciousness when you fall asleep. I've never had a WILD myself but i've heard they're great.
Hope i helped. *Goes about his day*

JFC! Thats what WILD is!!! My god, I do it all the time! Every night before I start my homework, I lay on my bed and "WILD" for an hour. I love riding that line of awake and asleep! I just thought it was like day dreaming or something else. I had no idea!

It takes me about two minuets and I'm already deep in WILD. I put on some classical music and just relax. I do it because it clams me down. I sometimes also do it in class, haha. Most of my classes are really boring so I just put my head down and relax. But the thing is, I still know what is going on around me even though I'm dreaming. Good stuff

      Will,

My understanding is that you are Lucid and can control dream content as a result of a WILD, and that it should be no different than a normal LD.

I've been able to straddle the threshold like you have for a while now and enjoy the hypnogogic imagery. But it either ends in one of two ways for me.
I either full fully asleep without lucidity, or I wake up.

Will, I'm not sure if that is technically a wild, or it might just be a light dream or just daydreaming.

I had two WILDS last month. In my opinion, it is nearly impossible to enter a WILD when you first go tot sleep at night, unless you have been meditating for a while. WILDs are best induced in the early morning. I wake up, stay awake for a few minutes, then play out a familiar scenario in my head, like walking around my house and seeing little details, like the steps, the garden hose, etc. After a few minutes your mind takes over and you no longer imagine it, it is a dream. Now I stabilize the dream by looking at my hands or at an object, and there you are, lucid dreaming. I belive it is key to do WILDs after you have slept 5 or 6 ghours, becuase then you can enter REM sleep very quickly after waking., whereas when you first go to sleep at night it takes 1.5 hours

I have alsp heard recomendations that if you do martial arts, visualize a sequence of movements in your head, rather than say walking around the house, to induce the WILD.

I woke up in the early hours of the morning the other night from a dream but was still dopey and told myself to go back to the dream, but realize its a dream, and became lucid and could control it, is that WILD?

I tried to use WILD, but I can't sleep at all. One night I tried to sleep this way for 3 or 4 hours...
