is this what its supposed to feel like?

I've had 1 technically lucid dream. It was a DILD, as I did a nose rc, and it dawned on me. But what I dont understand, (and others have asked the same question) is why it felt like it didnt really happen. It feels like a distant, hazy memory, like trying to remember my first day of pre-school. I know many will shoot this theory down, but the best way to describe it was having a dream about being lucid. I expected the sudden eureka! moment. That didn't happen. Is this just bad dream recall? Aren't DILDS notouriously unfocused? Any help would be brilliant!

As always, it depends on the person.

I've had a few LDs that weren't quite clear. And it is as you described, like becoming lucid, but still not. I think the best way to offset this is to do several reality checks, ask for more clarity, and so on.

Hope that works out, and congrats on the first lucid.

      Happy lucids.

Thanks for the help. As I said, it was dissapointing. Rather like watching a movie, not really feeling involved.

Yea, you'll get better. I know it.

Just do more RCs, or use some stabilizing methods. Remember to focus on the meaning behind the RCs.

You only had a low level of lucidity. This is hardly surprising for your first one, so don't worry about it.

You can't judge lucid dreams quality when you have only had one, mostly because they vary in quality and awareness. I haven't had an extreme amount of Lucid Dreams, but even with the few I have had I can see much variation. My first dreams were fuzzy, and I had the same feeling as you did, like I was watching a movie or that I "Dreamed I was Lucid Dreaming." (Which is in fact impossible, a Lucid Dream is simply a dream which you know your dreaming. It doesn't guarantee better quality, nor control.) After a few more lucids the quality started going up, so far I have had 1 life-like-quality lucid dream, so I know it is possible, and I remembered it crystal clear.

So basically what I am getting at is that your first lucids are most likely going to be fuzzy, and not too exciting (Besides the excitement of having one) without practice. Next time you have a lucid, stop and think about your suroundings. Feel things and focus on the sensations, this should increase clarity instantly. When you wake up, what you remember (which is indeed effected by your dream recall) will at least feel more real and impressive.

i highly doubt that all your lucids with be like that. ive had this happen to me and it sucked. but when i had my first lucid, i had the eurika moment and i was really aware that i was dreaming.
