Question Vision and dream quality. does it matter?

i have noticed that my vision isnt as good as it used to be and i fear that i may need to get glasses soon. does having bad vision effect the quality of your dreams. like if i bought contacts wouldi see things that way i see them with contacts or with normal vision. this is just something i have been curious about. does how you see in real life effect how well you see in dreams?

I wouldn't bet on it. You should be able to see clearly in your dreams even with wearing glasses.

People who become blind can still see in their dreams.

Interesting question... does the general level of quality decline if you are used to having lower quality sight in general, and would the absence of stabilizing techniques mean your vision is shittier overall in dreams...

I will ask a few people I know with tragic eyesight and get back to you. I'm a -2.75 only, and my vision is always fine in dreams except in dreams where my glasses or contacts have fallen off/out.

I have moderate myopia in real life. I seem to be completely unaffected by it in dreams.

I just asked my mom, whose vision is worse than -7.5. She says that her dreams are always crystal clear just as though she is wearing her contacts, and that she does not ever recall having had a dream where her vision wasn't good. (I told her I have, wonder how long til she has one now) I asked her if she thinks her vision is still less than perfect in her dreams, and she seemed a little confused I guess being that blind for so long really makes you forget what 20/20 is like?

Anyway she also remembered a lucid she had last night that she probably wouldn't have if I hadn't been asking her so many dream questions!

oh alright thanks. yeah i was just wondering. although what if you started going through your daily life contacts or glasses. would your dreams over time start to seem less clear as if to mimic how you see in reality? im just curious as always

I'm curious too, but I am suspecting from what she has said, that the answer might be complicated. She seems to think that her vision is perfect in dreams, and was confused when I asked her if it was less than perfect. This leads me to believe that her vision is the same in her dreams as it is during her waking life with lenses, since she wasn't raving about how clear things are in her dreams but also was confused when I asked the question. I'll try to ask her some more questions and make it more clear, and also ask some other people I know who are practically legally blind.

      Good topic

PeaKayELL and Shift, you don't even believe how happy this topic makes me. I recently got glasses (only -1 I think), and I had an idea for an RC based of that (or even some sort of dream sign), it is in here.

As my recall is awful, thus making me very hard to have lucids, I had to rely on other's responses. Unfortunately I never had a concrete answer to my question.

This thread makes me think it is actually possible to use vision as a RC or as a dream sign.

      Thank you both very much!

I have heard stories of using eyeglasses as a dreamsign before. If you wear glasses regularly like me, whenever you note something RC-worthy, take them off momentarily to see if your vision changes(problematic if you're a contact user because they take more effort to remove). Supposedly, in a dream there is no change in vision because it is sharp to begin with.

In my dreams, my vision is perfect even without my glasses on... or maybe I am wearing them and don't notice unless I try to touch my eyes for whatever reason. Still, I think I have found a replacement for my usual regimen of finger-through-palm checks. Thanks for reminding me of this old technique.

I wear glasses normally. Mostly in dreams I don't even think about it. Probably they are not even there.

But sometimes I notice I am wearing glasses, and find it annoying.
I have experimented with taking them off, and have found my vision to be perfect anyway.

So now, If I notice my glasses I just take them off and throw them away.
