      Yes! I did it...

I had my first lucid dream in months.
It only lasted a few seconds, but I did a reality check(looking at my hands) and it worked.

So, I am doing something right!
But, any advice on how to keep it going longer?

Far as I recall, you can do three things:
      - Rub your hands and focus on that.
      - Spin around.
      - Look at your body starting from your hands down to your feet.
These are supposed to stabilize the dream and help extend it. I was only able to try the rubbing one and it did extend my first by a couple of seconds

My early lucid dreams were frequent, but very short. I haven't had too many lately, but the length is easily 15 minutes now, which is more acceptable. The first tip I have is simply to relax, and realize that dreams don't have to magically end because you got lucid. Some do, I believe, because lucidity is achieved when already waking up. Otherwise, you're in a dream, and should logically stay in a dream. Once when a dream was stable I thought, "Don't wake up, don't wake up, don't wake up" on purpose to see what would happen. Nothing! I knew the dream had no reason to end, so the dream did not.

Secondly, I found the most simple method is just to focus on nearby objects when the dream goes fuzzy. I like to just drop down to the floor and observe the texture of the carpet, or sidewalk, and nothing else. When that is well formed and clear, my dream becomes stable. But really, tip one is the important one, and my dreams became steadily longer when I started to think that way. Good luck.
