Was I dreaming or awake? (LUCID)

So it's 5:47 right now... 17 minutes after having the experience and I'm a little confused, so I thought i would create a new thread =).

since about 4 in the morning I have been playing around with my consciousness (LOL) and basically I have been phasing in and out of dreams / day dreams. I'm on vacation with some friends in a hotel room and slept a lot during the day, plus I was feeling in the zone when I woke up at 2 am, so that is why.

So here is how it begins:

After some time I find myself laying on my back in my bed with my arm dangling off. I feel very weird like lots of energy flowing threw me--I don't know how to describe it. Also, at this point i believe I am awake. all of a sudden i start to get intense brain freezes at least 3-5 times. They are very severe, and basically my thoughts in the moment is "wow! something is happening!" (like I'm on the verge of a wild etc.) What's interesting to note is 2 of my last 5 Ld's basically it was these same brain freezes that turned me lucid while I was in the dream. Anyways, shortly after the brain freezes my whole body turned numb and my body, fully paralyzed basically falls back a bit onto the bed. my eyes are closed the whole time and during this I believe I can feel my friend moving around in the same bed. At this time I think my heart starts to pound slightly which is a good indicator I'm NOT dreaming, and during this time I feel like my mind is basically confined to my head. Thinking I'm still awake, I try and imagine stuff because basically behind my eyes it is all 'black'. After a while of it being unsuccessful I finally move and break the paralysis because I can hear my friends talking from across the bed. this part I don't remember very clearly but basically after some time one of my friends gets up and goes to lie on the floor. Shortly after I wake up 'for real' except I don't really remember waking up--probably lost consciousness for a bit--and as it turns out everyone is asleep and no one is on the floor . I look at the clock and 15 minutes have past since I last checked. then I write it down, try to go back to sleep and then go to type this up cause yeeah I'm confused, was I dreaming or awake?

clearly I know the latter part with my friends moving around was dream. I am having trouble figuring out when I went into a dream though. I am starting to think the whole thing may have been a dream now, but I'm not sure... i think at one point--i didn't write this--I am pretty sure I questioned the probability of me being in a dream hence the *(lucid)* in the title...

I've never really had trouble defining awake or asleep, anyone have stuff that works possibly?

      Any comments are welcome, thanks

So, you were sleepy in your dream? If so that used to happen to me all of the time. It's very hard for me to open my eyes in some dreams and I'm just so tired.

You.... need professional help. Just kidding, though I think you were awake for some of it, and dreaming for others. Let me put it into a metaphor. The cliff represents the WILD.
You dangled on the edge of it, falling but not falling, finally collapsing backward away from the cliff. Not the best metaphor, and probably wasted your time, but it helped me!
And isn't that all that matters?

Did you really write this thread? Reality check.
On LD hiatus. Probably will start again around new years.

Or, you know -- randomly throughout this year and next.

dude it sounds to me like you almost had an out of body experience! ive been reading a lot about it and those are the indications that you were about to have one.. if only you knew at the time that your body was parralized and you felt your heart pounding.. people always report that they feal like their heart was pounding and that their body was paralized right b4 they end up leaving their body.. some poeple have expeirensed and leave their body through a different process.. its very common for people who have lucid dreams a lot to some how have an obe experience instead(not saying you did have an obe, but you coulda) and learn how to induce them at will... as for me.. when im about to leave my body i can feel it coming and i get these really intense vibrations through out my whole body.. i think you should read up on it.. it would change your world if you learned how to do it

also ive had a very similar experience to yours while tryin to induce an o.b.e. wich didnt work

my mind was very calm and i was falling in and out between sleep and awake... i woke up in a weird state of mind and i though about trying to induce an o.b.e... i then started the process and started getting the regular vibrations throughout my body and tried to force my way out of my body(wich didnt work) what happened after that was very weird.. i guess i might have just fell into a dream or something... but i opened my eyes and was in a room i thought was my bed room i noticed i didnt have a blanket.. i closed my eyes to go back to sleep and heard what sounded like my brothers talking in the other room and thought it was normal and went back to sleep.. or so i thought...dont remember anything after that.. but when i woke up i was in my normal room and i had my blanket on and thought everything was weird cuz my brothers wasnt there and dont even live with me anymore... the thing is.. during that experience..EVERYTHING seem real and normal.. and nothing seem to faze my as weird.. i didnt even think about the fact that i thought my brothers were in the other room was weird even tho they havent been living with my for a while.. but yea i just thought ide share that...

About the cliff metaphor, I think I am gettin better at being on the edge of dreaming / awake although I've never had a true WILD.

yeah, brandon, i agree... it's strange. I'm gonna keep trying; since when I started trying to LD about a month ago I can definitely tell I'm getting better (dream recall and everythin).

thx for the comments guys! :-)
