I think that(if you said that with your heart, and not by impulse) you were lucid for a second, and then you lost your lucidity, but because you think you were lucid at the moment, then the plot of the dream changed to "what would you do if you were lucid"
in this plot, you do things without thinking, like normal dreaming, but because the things you do, like "spinning","reality check", don't change the plot, and you don't become lucid, then when you wake up, you doubt.
doubt is essencial, when you doubt, then probably it wasn't lucid.
but if you don't doubt, even if your awareness level was very very low(when this happens, you really feel inside the dream) then you became lucid....

      bye!

it happened to me, I had a low awareness LUCID dream, and when I woke up, I didn't doubt, I knew what really happened, I knew that I was lucid! so I became happy

Right now, those are the only kind of lucid dreams I have. I haven't had the time or energy to mess it with until now.

The most recent one was three weeks ago where I was riding in a big red
Dodge pick up truck that I knew was my brother's. (He doesn't have one in real life). We stopped at a stop light and these people in the car behind us got out and started taking off the doors and, in general, disassembling the truck.

I got out and began walking away. I turned and looked back and thought 'Wait a minute, this has got to be a dream. My brother doesn't have a red truck and why would anyone be taking one apart at a stop light.'

So I pushed a finger through the palm of my hand and said, 'Yep. I don't have time for this, I'm waking up', which I did.
