      Question Sound Helps induce dreams?

I have a noise machine that helps me sleep, and on the night that I broke my dry-spell, I had switched the sound to one that I had been using before the dry-spell. Could there be a link between sound and dreams, or is it coincidence? I recall that this is the only change I made to break my spell except for re-reading my dream journal.

I believe there is a link between sound and dreams in terms of how the sound influences what dreams your having; but I don't know so much about sounds effecting whether you have dreams or not. I guess maybe if it is just a ridiculously obnoxious sound that truly annoys you, that may effect it....but even then, I don't know how. If you can get to sleep with such an obnoxious sound, you should dream. It doesn't effect the DMT being produced in your brain. The only way I can see it effecting dreams is if it prevents you from getting to sleep in the first place.

It's one of those ambient sound machines... It's not annoying. Now it's probable that I've put up a mental barrier so I can't have a dream with my machine on that setting tho...
