      I JUST SAW THAT MOVIE!

That movie was awesome! I loved the sureal feeling that the animation gives off.

The script is awesome, i agree. I think it'd be cool if your afterlife was a never ending lucid dream. I wonder if a ghost is a dead lucid dreamer that is having an OBE without the body!

      hmmm.... maybe?

      i dunno

      good movie tho

What's with the script It's almost painful to read. That's obviously not the original script, right?

Anyway, I haven't seen the movie, people keep telling me to watch it. Along with Vanilla Sky. Anybody seen that here as well?

Out of curiosity, why was it boring Kaniaz?

Thats just ironic! A lucid dreamer that think a movie about lucid dreaming is boring
Waking life is one of the best movis ive seen. It could acctually be a testament in the digital lucid bible!
As for Vanilla Sky it also blowed my mind the first time i saw it. I thougt it was a typical romatic klisjee movie starring Tom Cruise. But it had alot more to give dealing with dreams.

Then one have "Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind".... mmmm three great movies...

I was warezing it, and I played some segments of it I got. One of them, for example, was this:

Two badly drawn people are in bed.
Man: Have you ever wondered about minds being linked?
Women: Yeah. It's like the (blah blah blah).

What I much would of preferred was:

Two super cool rendered people are in bed.
      Man: Die bitch!
Women: Not if I shoot you first!
      Man upturns bed.
      Gore flies everywhere.

      Or perhaps.

Two badly drawn people are in be.d
Woman: Have you ever wondered about minds being linked?
Man: Shaddap bitch and go to sleep.
Laugh track laughs in womans face.

Meanwhile, let's change the script for Shawshank Redemption to include the Terminator busting in and ruining everyone's shit

I thought the movie was amazing, but that's just me and I can really see how someone could find Waking Life to be the worst movie ever. The movie is mostly made up of dialogues, some of it not adding much to the plot. It can be boring because some of the dialogue is very complicated and hard to follow. I had to watch a scene 3 times to understand all the ideas they were trying to pass.

As for the "badly drawn" comment, the way the movie was made has a reason and I do believe the movie is much better as it is than in high quality cartoon or 3d animation. The producers wouldn't have gone to the extent of recording the movie then making the animation from the movie frames if they didn't mind the movie being "badly drawn." They would simply have "badly drawn" it in the first place. I think the producers did the animation that way because it makes hard to distinguish the times the character is dreaming and the times he is awake. The movie also has a very neat hallucinogenic feeling throughout, which also helps enhance the idea of dreaming.

If you're just looking for an action movie, or a chick-flick, then that movie will let you down. There's also a chance it'll bore the heck out of you if you're too young to care about some of the passages of the movie. To get something out of this movie, you mostly have to pay attention to it as if you were reading a book or something...

Overall... great movie though. I get something new out of it each time I watch it again...

      I couldn't agree more tyrantt23, good post!!

It's a movie with a purpose, not just entertainment for a huge target audience of violence/action fans. It shows immaturity if the movie is taken out of it's true context, take it for it's true value.

Acctually the movie is filmed real with real living people. Then theyve used a filter that woobles the whole movie towards a cartoon style. Then they animated everything.

Close. They actually edited over it by hand. They did have technology so that they could make one object slowly turn into another over a few frames so that their work was lessened when working with more linear movements. But they pretty much did it by hand, line by line.

Yes, you made an critical error in the spamming accusation. I forgive you.

EDIT: In my opinon, it was "badly drawn" for a number of reasons, one of which was where the professor bloke tended to become skinny, then his head became really big, then it went back to normal. I prefer it when heads stay normal size. That may of just been whatever super filter crap they used, but I would of much preferred it if when people were trying to convey rather hard to understand ideas to me, they didn't sort of fly and warp around the screen akin to a giant maybug on crack. I did only watch a few 12 minutes of the film, not in chronological order, so maybe I didn't do it justice - but nevertheless, it was enough to put me off spending another 3 days downloading the damn thing. Not worth it.

Wasn't really spam, it was a personal opinion, and a comparison. There's way worse in some threads

I know exactly what scene youre talking about... lol. The same one that I mentioned earlier.

The guy was talking in very complicated terms and my attention kept drifting to his head going all crazy. I thought the art was great, giving once again a feel of a complete crazy dream. The downside is that I did have to watch it 3 times to kinda understand what the guy was trying to say. After reading the script I'm still not 100% sure what the guy's trying to say on that scene.

And Kaniaz, you really should watch the whole movie even if it looks boring. I started thinking the same thing in first 30 mins of the movie. It gets a lot better as the movie goes on, it as a whole is much much better.

      waking life

IMHO, Waking Life is one of the best movies ever. If you get distracted by the animation might I suggest closing your eyes and listening instead. If you're still confused, read some books existential philosophy and hope for the best.

Decided to buy this film. Glad i did.

A true masterpiece. Excellently thought-provoking and well written and directed film, i feel like a better person from watching it. Its the sort of film that can completely change your whole perspective on life, it has for me.

      Amazing.

Its so compact! So much info, ideas, philosophy, lucid dreaming talk... on so little time. An artistic bomb!
