My advice, don't use that kind of autosuggestion. You will start to lose faith and interest by saying you will do this and end up not doing it.

Do you have a situation to reality check like "next time I see a red car, I will remember to reality check"? This definetly helps me and I have about 5-8 lucids a month.

Btw, that wasn't a noob question.

What I find helpful is to determine what you want to do in your up coming dreaming sessions two hours before sleeping. While I haven't extensively tried this, I have noticed that generally whatever I do two hours prior to sleeping appears in my dreams. By the way, it takes a LONG time to carry thoughts into your dreams. I mean, not for everyone, but I think most people will agree that it takes a long time. When I first started lucid dreaming it was easier for me to input info that I wanted to happen in my dreams.

But what I suggest is doing something involving dreaming two hours prior to laying down. Read about it. Check the forums, make a song about it, write it down, talk about it, plan it out, and do lots of RCs.

I too will work on this more and tell you the results later, if you'd like. Hope this helps.

Do you only do reality checks before you go to bed? Associating reality checks with dreams signs is a really good idea, along with doing them on a schedule of sorts, so you're doing multiple ones a day.

You should do more Reality Checks throughout the day, instead of just doing them before you go to bed.

If you're keeping a Dream Journal, try finding your dreamsign and RC to that in real life.

Just keep the RCing and sooner or later it'll pass over to your dreams.

I do RC all day, I even do it to the point where it gets tiring. It used to pass over into my dreams but now not anymore? I think it's because I'm usually at home.

Make sure you don't just do RCs, but you really question reality. Even if you do RCs in a dream, if you're just doing it habitually, it would give false positives. 2 nights ago, I did the hands and nose RC. I had normal hands, and couldn't breath with nose closed. That's because I didn't actually ask myself "Is this a dream?"

      Just a word of advice.

For starters, you need to identify multiple dreamsigns. Five would be the minimum I would recommend. Say your dreamsigns are the following:

      • Firetrucks
      • Great Danes
      • Your best friend
      • Losing your homework
      • Dark rooms
      • Smelly cheese

Then set it firmly in the forefront of your mind that the next time you see a firetruck, your best friend, or a Great Dane, you will do a reality check. When this happens, say you see a firetruck, your thought process should mimic the following, "Hmm, there goes another firetruck, that's odd. Hey, that's a dreamsign of mine! I might be dreaming. Am I dreaming?"

Really ask yourself, question your reality. Look around you, see if anything else seems odd or out of place. Try to move some small object with your mind. If that doesn't work, do a nose-hold RC. Pay close attention. If you can't breathe, then try to stick the index finger of your right hand through the palm of your left hand. Feel the pressure of your finger, and the nail, against your palm. Feel the warmth of your skin. Pay close attention, don't just do it absentmindedly.

Don't just set a schedule, such as, "I'm going to do a reality check at 10:00 am, noon, 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm, and suppertime." That makes it too much of a habit. But don't only do a reality check when you notice a dreamsign, either. Do a reality check whenever you notice anything the least little bit out of place. If your mailbox is leaning to the left when it usually leans to the right, do a reality check! If your mom is wearing a new brand of perfume and smells funny, do a reality check! But put thought and consideration behind your reality checks; don't do them automatically or habitually.

It's a fine balance, but the benefits of proper reality checking are more than worth the seeking out of that balance. I wish you the best of luck.

-plugs thread's detached power cord back into wall socket- Try Galantamine and Choline Bitartrate OP. Since you seem to be into LD-related pills, I recommend the reading the book "Advanced Lucid Dreaming: The Power of Supplements" by Thomas Yuschak. It's a phenomenal book and I have had some really high level lucid dreams courtesy of the knowledge gained from that book. Galantamine, and Choline Bitartrate were just some of the supplements covered.

That's exactly what I do. I don't RC all the live long day, and when I do, I make sure I have a backup, just in case. RCing should be more than just a check.
