      this wasnt lucid...what was it?

i didnt know where to put this so i thought best in general discussion...

i was dreaming i was on my computer, i was sat on my bed and my computer was where my dorr should be and i realised this and realised i was dreaming. i then couldnt move from my bed and was paralysed. i tried to go back into the dream and ended up downstairs in my house. i was in the kitched and wondered if it was lucid as i knew i was dreaming, i felt a presence in the back garden and it was going dark. i went to turn on the light and when i did the light wouldnt turn on. i sat in the chair and saw something move by the patio window. (everything was as if it was real) i was scared and thried to force mysle fot move to wake up but i was still paralysed and couldnt wake up. i amsuprised i kept the dream as usually everything just goes black and im lying there. i decided id try to fly but it was just like jumping normally nothing else. there was someone near the patio watching me and it made me scared. the dog was there and at first i thought nothing was there cause the dog would go made but then i remembered its a dream dog and he might not. all i wanted to do was wake up.

Well, the first part was certainly lucid. You knew you were dreaming. You forgot, that wasn't. Then you remembered, that was.

As for the interpretation of the dream, I don't know.

If you know that you're dreaming, you're lucid. Being lucid doesn't mean you have control, though some degree of control often accompanies it. Lucidity is just the starting point.

As for the part with paralysis, I'm a little unclear on what you mean. You said you tried to fly, but you only succeeded in jumping. You must have been able to move to do so, so how we you paralyzed?
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

its hard to explain, when i realise im dreaming i discover i am paralysed but not in my dream but in my bed. sometimes i can accomplish keeping my dream also while knowing full well i am asleep in bed unable to move and cant move my'real' body, it is very rare that i can dream also. and even rarer that i can actually keep hold of the dream which in this case i did. I didnt like the actual dream though. its like as soon as i know im dreaming i obviously become aware that im in bed and i cant carry on dreaming without not being able to move. i cant just carry on in the dream aware that it is a dream. its like i become more aware of the fact i am asleep and therefore i cannot move, as my body is asleep but my mind is awake.

      hmm

I guess me question is "Could you move in the dream? If so, why would you try to move your real body?"

The "paralysis" sounds like regular sleep paralysis. That's when you cant move your body because you're dreaming, your mind is moving instead of your body.

The dream was definately lucid. Just no control it seems, unless you could move your dream body instead of your real body. In that case it was totally lucid, you were just unable to wake up (some people have a harder time staying asleep when lucid then waking up).

i guess i'm confused about the whole body controll thing.
