      Dream Guide Help

      A week or two ago I had an awesome lucid dream where I summoned my Dream Guide. (Most amazing experience I've ever had in a dream.) I have had 4 or 5 lucid dreams since then and in everyone I try to summon him again but it never works. Each time it gets worse.

      1st attempt: Sky became cloudy and down came my dream guide.
      2nd attempt: Sky turned cloudy then stopped and nothing happened.
      3rd attempt: Sky turned grey, nothing happened and I felt so stupid that I lost lucidity because I thought it was real life.
      4th attempt: Nothing.....

      Does anyone know why this is happening and how to solve this problem?

      Maybe since you're expecting it not to appear it's not happening. For example, I can NEVER fly in my dreams because as much as I want too, I know that it's impossible. So next time don't think about it too much. Try and summon your DG and if it doesn't appear no biggie. Try again in a little bit with as little negativity as possible. Dreams are silly- whatever we don't want to happen usually happens, go figure.

      If it doesn't work try to find him instead of having him find you. Try spinning to a place where you know he'll be.

      Good suggestions so far. I second them. Try to be more expectant about it by giving it less thought, and try a new technique to find your DG.

      Remember that your DG is there to help you get better at lucid dreaming and so he/she shouldn't be a tool of discouragement.

      Perhaps you could ask a DC where your DG is? Or use auto-suggestion by saying, "Enterprise, beam one dream guide directly to my co-ordinates. Energize." Something fun like that may work!

      If this mental block continues, let's say, for three more attempts, then I suggest you drop this goal for a while and move temporarily to something different (ideally, comething you *know* you can manipulate easily. This will boost your confidence.).

      Yeah, that was actually going to be my next plan. I'm thinking about looking into manipulating objects and elements that I've seen people talking about.

      I'll second this. I remember, back when I didn't fail so much at LDing, having a lot of trouble locating my dream guide. Finally, in one LD, I asked a DC where she was. He obliged and pointed me in the right direction. Of course, when I got there, I had to threaten to blow the whole house up in order to get her to come out, but come out she did.

      The conversation we had was. . . revealing, to say the least.
