      My eyes opened twice.

This is pretty long. Appologies - I love to go on and describe things as opposed to just giving the general idea, it's much more satisfying.

I just woke up from a strange nap. It was quite odd, I couldn't tell which parts of it I was dreaming and which parts I wasn't. I love it when this happens, last time was at night, and i kept drifting in and out of consciousness, unaware of whether or not I was asleep or awake. I think I made a post about that before, but this nap was a fair bit different - I shall explain what happened.

I was really tired and stressed out so I just went into my room, turned my light off and flopped down onto my bed. My door was left open and the light from the next room was peeking in - not enough for me to notice while my eyes were closed. Soon enough I was dreaming. The first thing I dreamt was actually typing on the forums here! Which was strange. I wasn't sitting at the computer, there was no keyboard, all that existed was the browser, and I was having conversations and reading conversations (making posts) all within the page. I don't remember what I was talking about, but I remember that they were actual conversations that were going on. A few times I became aware of this and found it sort of amusing, just going back to it... an odd kind of lucid dream, I didn't attempt to change it or do anything else, I just relaxed and let things happen.

Then my cousin made some noises in the next room and woke me up. I still laid there with my eyes closed, but I sort of groaned. He was saying some things but I really wasn't listening to him. There was some silence and then I felt him come in to my room and stand beside my bed. I opened my eyes and he was standing there, it kind of startled me at first but I knew it was him so it wasn't like those creepy old hag visits I've read about. I could only see up to about his chest from the angle I was lying. I tried to move and found out that I was paralyzed. I got fairly creeped out by this and told him not to mess around with me cuz I was all vulnerable. He said ok, and was pretty nice about it.. But then I realized that my mouth didn't move when I spoke to him, and neither did his, we were communicating in silence. Then I also realized... my cousin's in victoria . Haha oh gee so I dreamed that. Realizing this I managed to open my eyes again (even though my eyes were already "opened".. so this time they opened into the real room). And he disappeared. I was stilll paralyzed, but I didn't really attempt to move, I was tired anyway and was just enjoying the rest. I closed my eyes and went back to sleep.

After a while I sort of woke up again, and I opened my eyes, I was paralyzed still, I tested it.. I felt like if I tried to move really hard I'd be able to get out of it, but I was enjoying it, and like I said, just wanted to relax. I was looking around the room, and I realized that all the lights were turned off (even the lights in the next room. Everything had a slightly blueish tint to it from the moonlight. This confused me and I realized that I must be dreaming this. As soon as I realized that, my eyes opened a second time. And I was looking at the real room. I quickly realized "what if that was my 'dream body'(as people call it)". I don't really believe in out of body experiences to be honest, I think they're just dreams (this, I dont think was one anyway, perhaps something similar, but less vivid). Anyway so I closed my eyes really quickly, and was amused to find that when I closed them, they were still opened, but in this bluish nighttime room with all the lights out. I tried to get out of bed, but the angle I was lying at was weird (a bit on my side and stomach) so for some reason instead of just rolling out of bed, I tried to bend at that weird angle. I managed to get about halfway and the top half of my body got up. I doubt this was an OBE because I didnt look down to see my other body, it coulda just been a dream of me getting out of bed. But it felt like I was connected and I was being peeled away from the bed. It was interesting nonetheless. I sort of forget what happened next but I think I forgot that it was a dream and just drifted back into a regular dream.

After that I woke up, got out of bed and went into the computer room and started talking on msn. I was telling a couple of friends about the neat dream... and then I realized. The lights were out. It was then that I realized that this was a dream! But unfortunately I wasn't able to do anything because right at that moment my mom called down from upstairs and told me to come up and help her with something.

I got up really quickly for some reason and I shut the door to my room, and just stood in front of it for a while. I felt like I was hiding something (perhaps the fact that I was napping... I didnt intend on it, I was just planning on laying down for a minute but I dozed off) in it, and I wanted to keep it from my mom, who was downstairs as well (just in another room). Then I woke up again and she was just walking into my room, this time it was real, and she turned on the light on and I realized that that one before was a dream.

This was all so confusing. But it was quite a bit of fun, haha. I love taht feeling of opening your eyes twice. It's really weird. There was one point I think where I opened them three times in a row. Now I'm curious, did I ever ACTUALLY open them??????

Just felt like sharing that. You guys experienced this or anything similar to it? I love when I get into these weird states of constant false awakenings. Does anyone know of tricks to be able to get myself into one of these on purpose?

      Cheers,
      Dylan

Hey Dylan - very interesting bunch of FA's
You're obviously doing okay with LDing, as this sort of stuff happens more frequently when dreams are quite important to you

As for whether you really opened your eyes - probably not. But its hard to say.
Your eyes are the only part of your body you can often still control under sleep paralysis. However I think it doesn't necessarily apply to your eyelids

As for the dream body.. in a vivid dream, your body can be very realistic. I believe this is what happened to you.
They call it your 'dream body', but that doesn't imply anything astral or out-of-body. At least not at that level.
It's purely a very impressive representation of your physical self

About getting into those states on purpose... What works for me sometimes: closing your eyes and imagining waking up, and opening your eyes again. If it didnt work, try it again. and again.
The trouble is staying lucid through all that

      Then why bother posting, Kaniaz?

Placebo, I know it wasn't an OBE , I thought I mentioned that a few times. I just thought it was neat and was trying to find a way to describe it.. so OBE-like in the sense that it resembled one. To be honest, my belief is that all "astral" or "actual OBEs" are really just dreams anyway. Just very very very lucid and clear ones, which is probably why they're so hard to fully achieve.

And when you say to try imagining waking up and opening my eyes again... do you mean repeatedly while I lie there and go to bed?

      Cheers,
      Dylan

I also have/had that thought. Im undecided, because I've read of experienced LDers having their first OBE and insisting that its nothing like a dream at all.
Then again, the mind is tricky. So well... I dunno...

No, I meant if you went from a lucid dream to a false awakening. So do the eye opening in the lucid.
If you want to go from a normal dream to a false awakening... um... not sure about that
Let me know if you find a way

      *cough*

Anyway, Dylan...seems like you had some really vivid False Awakenings...this has happened to me before...and i think that FA's happen during light sleep, not heavy 4 hour sleep, but during NAPS or broken sleep. Something to do with the subconscious battling the consciousness....
