I absolutely agree. My best lucid dreams are ones where I wasn't completely "lucid" so to speak, because I treated my dream characters as real human beings, even though I knew I was dreaming. It is a difficult state to capture, because I was in a sense lucid, even as I interacted with everyone as if they were real, and even made a friend.
I don't have a problem with others acting completely god-like in their dreams. It's their mind, and they can do what they want. However, I am much more interested in the use of dreaming like you suggested; peaceful exploration. Just looking is enough for me. My favorite lucid dream was one where I stared at the night sky looking at galaxies that were around the sky, and there was a slight neon red glow as if I were in a sort of nebula. I do enjoy one "god-like" power- flight. Flight to me is just amazing, real life or in a dream. It is so peaceful and surreal, and whenever I fly in an airliner I always wonder why people at the window seats treat it as such a boring thing, busting out their laptops soon as the electronics are allowed again and missing out on a much more gorgeous view. But I'm getting off-topic.
Peacefully flying, I feel the same way you do. No need for me to get into epic firefights. I wake up sad sometimes, because I am not a very good artist, and can't capture the images (that is the thing I don't like about dreaming, text can never explain it just right). Anyway, I'm sorry about this post, I've been writing it in a sort of meditative state because you really got me back to that lucid dream feeling. I've had a bit of a dry spell and I can really remember the feeling now.
Hope you all don't mind, but I did draw a picture inspired by dreaming, but just one. Top down perspective, because unfortunately I can't draw in 3D.
