      Failing RC out of exceptation

      Hello

When I decide to do RCs during the day, a voice in my head tends to say "the RC will of course work because I'm awake" and then I do the RC and it works (ie I plug my nose and the air doesn't come in).

Now last night I had a dream in which something occured which made me certain in the dream that I was dreaming, so I instantly did two RCs (plug nose and finger through palm) and both of them worked! Then the dream just continued like before. Do you think it is because I expected them to work, like I do during the day? Would this voice be make RCs useless do you think, cause I find it is difficult to make it quiet.

I think you're missing the critical mental reality check that should accompany your suspicion and your 'physical' reality checks. Try to really make yourself more aware when reality checking.

I hate when that happens. I've had reality checks backfire in dreams before. It is frustrating.

When you RC during the day, try to make it last for a few minutes. Don't just do the reality check, then immediately forget about it. Take the next few minutes to critically examine your surroundings as you do what you normally do. Keep asking yourself if you're dreaming, and stay aware.
