      More WILD problems.

Heh. Ya'll probably don't remember me but I was on here earlier this year (And the year before) asking about WILDs.

After many failed attempts at lucid dreaming, I took a break (although that didn't help before). I attempted to WILD again last night, because that's the method that I've had the most success with.
      Here's the story:

I lay in bed and get into the most comfortable position for me. I close my eyes and try to ignore all the sounds around me, focusing on the blackness. Very quickly, I start seeing HI (is it good that I can see it so fast?) and I focus on the lights. Sometimes I let the patterns go their own way, other times I manipulate them. After several minutes, my arms and legs start feeling heavy. My fingers and toes start twitching, or want to, randomly. After awhile, my entire body is tingling and very heavy, but I'm still very well attuned to what's going on around me. Small sounds start getting louder and annoying. I feel like my body's asleep, but not my mind.

      Here are my problems:
I can't tell if I'm seeing parts of a dream, or if my eyes are opening slightly. Everyone in awhile, I'll see a bright shape that's different from the usual lines and dots. How am I supposed to know?

I can tell my body is asleep, but it just feels like my mind isn't going anywhere. Is this normal, or what?

I keep getting impatient. I sat like that for over an hour (about an hour and 23 minutes, I believe) and by the last few minutes, I got angry. I opened my eyes and nothing was different except for the fact that it felt like my body was made of lead. I went to roll over, but it took several seconds for my body to respond. I know I was getting somewhere but my body falls asleep very quickly. How long should it take for my mind to drift off?

When I'm focusing on the HI, I find myself focusing on a certain area. When I relax my eyes and let them go back to their default position, my stomach kind of...jumps. Like I get the feeling that I just lost my stomach ( it feels great! ). Plus, all the lights suddenly jump and bulge slightly, like they're about to take on a shape. Sometimes I can see a face but no matter what I do, it's gone immediately. Help? :3

And finally, every once in awhile, I find I have a hard time breathing. It feels like there's a weight on my chest and, when I breath out, I take a lot less breath back. I usually get panicked and open my eyes.

I really appreciate all the help I may receive. LDing is one of the only things I -really- want to do.

EDIT: Is it at all possible for this to be moved to the WILD section? I seem to have clicked the wrong name before writing this up xD

I have the same problem, but no solution unfortunately My mind is always awake, and no matter what I do, I always am just aware... I can still hear the noises around me, I am still somewhat aware. Even when my mind is jumbled and I hear things, I still hear the things outside, and they won't go away, even if I don't pay attention to them completely. I wake up just angry and frustrated as well.

Well, hopefully someone will answer this question.

Yep. I just tried again a couple nights ago. I sat with my body asleep for over an hour and half.

      *sigh*

ooh you'll never have any stable result by this way of doing

      1 - try after awakening
2 - your mind should be almost asleep, but not only your body

Do not waste your time and emotions for another ways

Alright, looks like i'll jump in here..

WILD's, although I have had maybe 1 real one by accident, I have found out many things in the past week, that I didn't know about myself that make it easier to explain to others about WILDing...

A good idea if you are not good at relaxation is to go to sleep between 3-5 hours so you hit a REM cycle.. once you wake up from that, get up, go to the bathroom or whatever you have to do to sort of wake up your mind a little bit...

Once you lay back down, get comfortable, do what you have been doing (in the beginning of the night) but do it now after 3-5 hours of sleep...

Concentrate on your breathing, let your body relax. If your body starts to twitch or you have the sudden urge to move your body, that is just your mind playing tricks on you, seeing if your body is still awake or not.. Ignore those feelings and just keep concentrating on the HI / sounds / etc that is going on...

Sooner then later, a dream should start to form around you, it may not be all clear at once, it may be black and white with no sound.. Just keep letting those dream images form, eventually they will gain color, sound, etc... The trick is to pull yourself into the dream, which that is the point I am still working on so i cannot give advice there...

If you need any WILD advice... talk to Jeff777

      thank you

Raevan you say you lay in bed and get into the most comfortable position for you.. What position is that exactly..?

Also wolf is on the right track in saying that there is a right time and a wrong time to attempt WILD. Best to try it first thing in the morning or if you can wake yourself up after few hours of sleep via an alarm clock.. Night time just does not have anywhere near the same success rate.

Another possibility is playing with the HI.. While it is fun and it hard not to, this can also make your eyes move and if your eyes are moving then your body may not slip completely into paralysis which may be the crucial key you're missing.

Best of luck and keep us posted.

The thing is that I do follow these rules. I only try WILDing either after noon (for a nap) or after my REM period. I also never play with the HI. Sometimes I try to visualize a scene (like VILDing) just to skip my body trying to trick me (if you do that you won't feel a thing). I get into vibrations, but then after they stop, everything just kind of stops, and I'm just lying there. I've tried to VILD from there but I lose focus too easily.

Mann, i have the exact problem that raevan has, i go through my REM cycle and i wake up hecka early to try n WILD but the sounds around me are coming from outside just don't shut up and some are difficult to tell appart from the sounds u get while going into sleep, plus i've found that the longer i stay with an awake mind and a sleeping body the more tired i feel during the day so i'm not benefiting much from just chillin there. i've been really close to WILDing but the last couple days i've kinda taken a step back instead of going forward. I'm considering a break for a couple of days and just have regular dreams and chillax. Maybe trying too hard is a problem too.

Oh and i have a suggestion, perhaps the title of the thread should be changed, i think this is an important issue and i common one too, maybe it would attract more people with suggestions if there were a more attractive title, no offence to Raevan's choice of title.

Depends on the night, really. I'm much more comfortable lying on my right side, but when I do that my right arm twitches more, probably due to the fact that it's pinned. The first few times I tried to WILD (and the position I've had the most success with) is on my back. It's not as comfortable, plus my cat has recently decided she likes to paw at my throat and face when I'm trying to sleep on my back.

I'm gonna take Wolf's advice and wake up much earlier than usual and try to WILD after that. Just how awake should I be? There are times that I get up early and whenever I blink, the blackness lasts for 10 seconds like I'm about to fall asleep and even sitting will make me pass out. But if I start moving around I'm not sure how quickly I'll be able to sleep, if I will at all.

I'll post tomorrow afternoon with a report.

      Whelp, I didn't LD.

I woke up at 7:15, after 4 hours of sleep (Yes, I went to bed late). I got up, put a Pepsi in the fridge and took a drink of water. After that I crawled back into bed aaaaand....couldn't sleep. I only saw HI once, and I THINK it was forming some kind of scenery but I may just be overly hopeful. I saw waves of light forming around the edge of my vision that all ran down to the center, and I saw none of the randomly moving lines that I usually see. Behind these waves, there was thousands of fuzzy dots that kind of rippled when the waves moved by. It was kind of like I was watching a ripple in a pond backwards. The weirdest part about it all is that I only got SP in my upperbody.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I'm starting to get angry.
