learning how to become lucid is a process that can very from person to person ... some people might have a lucid dream the night they find out what lucid dreaming is.. others it might take months of practice to achieve lucidity while dreaming. i my personal experience from talking to many people about lucid dreaming is that if you follow and use all the techniques listed on this site , on the average i have heard from people that it takes them 2-6 weeks of devoted time and practice to the art to start having consistant lucid dreams ..just stick with it. believe me , im very impatient as well but have achieved lucidity from devoted practice .. sometimes it just takes time., remeber, good things come in time

Thanks for that. I will keep practising, because I really want to be able to lucid dream. I just wanted a rough idea of how long it would take so that I wasn't practising for a year before realiseng it wasn't going to work or something. I have been keeping a dream diary, and I am already getting better at remembering my dreams in about three days.

thats great to hear that you are having good success so far.. it always helps motivate you when you see fast results and good dream recall is the first step in achieving lucidity. now remember when you become lucid for your first time that you might become so exited that you wake yourself, but dont let it discourage you. its very common. also dont be discouraged if you have little control of what happens or if you only remain lucid for a short time. just try to keep in mind the techniques to use while in a dream to remain lucid. like the spinning technique, it sounds a little funny but it really does work for most people. hope u become lucid soon !!!

      how long

When I first started LD-ing, I didn't realize that's what it was. I thought I was either having visions... or going insane. After a while it became normal for me, though and I came to realize that it is a pretty rare gift.
