      Lucid dreaming and sports!!!!

I am a competitive high school athlete (cross-country, diving, gymnastics). This quote got me obsessed with lucid dreaming
      Spoiler for quote:

My main goal in dreaming is to have lucid sports practices every night and to prepare for important meets by playing them out during dreams.

Does anyone else have experience with this or any application of lucid dreaming in sports? Or do you have comments or find this interesting as well?
      the quote is from http://spiritwatch.ca/applications_o...dreaming_i.htm

      Very debated.

You most likely can't build muscle... You probably couldn't increase reaction time or anything else like that... But you could calm your nerves, if that were a problem.

I agree building muscle and stuff probably isn't possible, but there are many instances where "sensory-motor skills" are improved and even learned using lucid dreams.

So I think lucid dreaming can help improve skill sports like golf or diving but wouldn't be as helpful for swimming or running (unless you wanted to improve technique)

well i did hear about this cool study

      there were two basketball teams:

one which practiced everyday for a week or so

and one which visualized the moves everyday for a week or so.

the team who visualized did much better.

so I imagine practicing your moves in the best 3-d visualizer, lucid dreaming, you can get much better. It will not train you physically whatsoever, but will train your mind!

I'm curious, I never heard of that study, can you provide a source?

@DreamTheater: Good idea. Just bear in mind that lucid dreams aren't that long (especially in the beginning) and would provide only a short time to practice. I'm not aware of any evidence that dream practice, or visualization would lead to much greater benefits than RL practice.
