Thread: DILD, MILD, WILD, WBTB etc...

I keep seeing people putting various things in their signatures like:

DILD 1
MILD 3
WILD 5

But just want to clear a few things up for newcomers.
There are two types of lucid dreams you can have, they are either a WILD or a DILD.
These are not methods (although sometimes WILD is used to refer to any general attempt to enter a WILD).

DILD is a Dream Initiated Lucid Dream.
WILD is a Wake Initiated Lucid Dream.
How you achieve entering these states is the method (such as a WBTB.)


So for example, the following fall under the DILD category of lucid dream techniques (not an extensive list at all, just to give a basic idea):


DILD induction methods

MILD
Auto Suggestion
Reality testing
CAT
WBTB (this can fall under both categories depending on what happens)


And these fall under the WILD category of lucid dream techniques (again not an extensive list)

WILD induction methods

WBTB
DEILD (because you have a brief awakening from a dream, then consciously reenter the dream)
FILD
WILD-CAT
Counting Method.




So hopefully this clears things up.
Obviously it's handy to know which techniques are working for people, so not suggesting people stop putting techniques in their sigs.
Just if you also have WILD and DILD, then make sure it all adds up... for example every FILD you have should also be counted in your WILD counter, and every MILD that you have should be counted in your DILD counter (unless it resulted in a WILD of course!).
