      Question Staying Lucid?

I tend to get distracted in my lucid dreams and forget that I'm dreaming. Are there any tricks to staying lucid for longer periods of time?

repetition. the more lucid experiences you have, the better you get at them. the fact that you're consciously thinking about trying to avoid getting distracted in your next LD may also help.

What also might help is try to remember in the LD to keep reminding yourself the whole time that you are actually dreaming. You might see this as a task to do in your next LD and see how far you get this way.

You could ask a DC to remind you that your dreaming every so often.

Try telling yourself repeatedly, "I am dreaming, I am dreaming". (Philosophy major, here we come.) Also, constant reality checks would help. And maybe even throwing a little hand rubbing into the mix. In fact, if you wanted to go all out, you could make up your own personal lucid dreaming song, or use someone else's.

      Here you go!

      First there is nothing
      But a slow boring dream
And your thoughts seem to hide
      Deep inside your mind

You're all alone in the night
So you turn on a light
An eery glow lets you know
      It’s a dream…

When I WILD I hear music
Close my eyes, see the visions
Float around, take control of your dream...

      What a feeling!
      I’m lucid dreaming!
I can have it all now I’m free inside my mind
Take your passion, and make it happen
Pictures come alive when you’re lucid every night

When I WILD I hear music
Close my eyes, see the visions
Float around, take control of your dream...

      What a feeling!
      (I am lucid now)
      I'm lucid dreaming!
      (It's so vivid now) etc

Haven't had a lucid dream in 3 years, and I'm looking to get back into it.

One of my favorites! I usually find myself walking around in the dream scape chanting that. It takes me a minute to think about what I'm saying, but when I do, bingo!

You talk to vacuum cleaners and safes, you've had apple trees growing in your living room, tigers and horses in your dining room, an elephant in your bedroom. I've seen you locked in a jail in the middle of your living room and once someone swore they saw you floating in mid-air! How do you explain that, Major Nelson!?
