Melatonin..and the like, and so and so forth..its all nice I recently got on melatonin. And I gues it is going to give you more vivid dreams and longer REM periods or somethign but seriously..I dont think any herb or pill is going to get you lucid. Thats all up to your self I think.

Because I mean..it works so well for seri because he is a natural anyway, but for other people you are just going to get more vivid and longer dreams or something..not lucid I think..or is it proven pills(or herbs) grand lucidity aswell..seems a bit unlikely to me.

I dont get lucid anymore then I normally do with the pills..just once or twice a night.. ..but I take it anyway, hoping its gonna work ^_^

herbs can help you at the beginning.
I got my first lucid dream after i smoked Salvia divinorum... but i suppose it interacted with my prescription medications... and i became lucid and had a false awakening...

      nutmeg...? huh?

I’d like to close my eyes and go numb but there’s a cold wind
Coming from the top of the highest high rise today.
Its not a breeze cause it blows hard, yes and it wants me to discard the humanity I know, watch the warmth blow away.

      some info on nutmeg
      Effects:
Possible nausea during first hour; may cause vomiting or diarrhea in isolated cases. Takes anywhere from one to five hours for effects to set in. Then expect severe cottonmouth, flushing of skin, severely bloodshot eyes, dilated pupils. Personally I compare it to a very, very heavy hash buzz. "Intense sedation". Impaired speech and motor functions. Hallucinations uncommon in average (5-10 gm) doses. Generally followed by long, deep, almost coma-like sleep (expect 16 hours of sleep afterward) and feelings of lethargy after sleep. May cause constipation, water retention. Safrole is carcinogenic and toxic to the liver.

I second that Erowid and Lyceaum are excellent resources. Knowledge is power and i'm convinced those sites have saved my ass with experimentation quite a few times

It's a lot less effective than morning glory and the sensation is also nowhere near on a par with a good extraction of morning glory

      Bluedini,

Have you bought that bottle of 5-HTP yet? I'm thinking I may buy one this weekend. I'm interested in how it works for you..

I'm either getting it on Monday or tommorow. All depends on if i'm recovered from new years by tommorow or not. I'll let you know as soon as the results are in but I imagine we'll be getting it about the same time if you get some at the weekend.

Yeah, I'm swearing off alcohol for a few days so I can try some.
I'll do melatonin tonight and might buy some 5-HTP Friday or Saturday.

Ok, I've got a nice big bottle of 5-HTP capsules sitting next to me now, I'll let you know how it goes in the morning How'd the melatonin work out Seeker? I'm thinking about moving onto that next.

The melatonin had a nice soothing effect. Unfortunately, I was also suffering from alcohol withdrawl and they kind of cancelled each other out.
Physical withdrawal can last three days. Saturday night should be great.

However, I had a really long vivid (but non LD) last night.
I'll hold off on the 5-THP until you report in.

I may add that melatonin works just wonderful!
I'm taking it with valeriana root.

However it has 2 bad thing about it - you sleep so deeply that it is extremely difficult to recall full dreams... But what you remember is just
      mind blowing! Such clarity/consistency/story...

And it makes you very sleepy in the morning. I guess it depends on dose...

Well the 5-HTP definatly had an effect. I dosed 100mg and I definatly remembered more dreams that I normally would have (I remember about 6 opposed to the usual 1 or 2) and they all seemed a lot more detailed and 'plotted' although not nessicarily more vivid (I've been having some amazingly vivid dreams lately as it is, the 5-HTP didn't seem to top this). Also, the seretonin has definatly made my dreams more pleasant which has been a big improvement on the crap I've had to sleep through lately. I've heard that 5-HTP has a cumulative effect over a period of days though so I may have more to report tommorow. So the 5-HTP definatly has an effect, not as strong as Melatonin from the sound of. The brand I'm taking is combined with Valarian root and Vitamin B6 so they might have added a helping hand too (although the Vitamin B6 is very low dose).

      WOW, what a night!

I decided to ignore the warnings on the bottle of Melatonin and took a 3mg dose with half a bottle of wine.

At least 5 really involved, vivid dreams. Unfortunately, none of the lucid.
I can remember performing reality checks in at least two of them.
I tried to fly, but couldn't and therefore concluded that I was not really dreaming!
I can even remember the disappointment I felt because I wanted to go lucid!

Maybe tonight I will try the 5-HTP, or maybe just the Melatonin again.

CAUTION: You should always follow the instructions on any bottle of medicine. Just because I'm an idiot and mixed it with alcohol doesn't mean you should.

Well I dosed another 100mg last night and only really remember one dream but it was very detailed and more 'plotted' than most of my dreams. So yeah, 5-HTP definatly has some effect but I think Melatonin's where it's at.

Could be. I did another 3mg of Melatonin last night. 5 very vivid dreams. Wouldn't want to use it to the point that I became tolerant or anything.

Hey Bludini, how long do the effects of Melatonin last?
I took 3mg last night around 10:30, but had to get up at 5:30 this morning.
      I feel really disconnected...
Maybe I shouldn't be taking this unless I plan on a full 8 hours of sleep??

I'm not really sure how long the effects last as the last week or so I've been having 10+ hours of sleep a night. I did wake up in the night once and feel unusually 'out of it'. My 5-HTP contains big doses of Valrian Root though so I assumed it was the sedative effect from that. Also, isn't Seratonin (produced by 5-HTP) the natural counterbalance to Melatonin? I dunno, maybe taking 5-HTP so soon after Melatonin has had some sort of adverse mental effect seeing as they're both so closly linked to mood.

I've been staying on Melatonin 3mg a night. Mine also has Vitamin B6
I've noticed a remarkable increase in clarity and vividness. But seem to have lost a little control in lucid stages. Could be some kind of seditive effect messing with my mind.
