Stability methods, and chewing gum in dream.

Anyone on here ever tried chewing gum for a stability method? It seems like something that would give your mind something continuous to do without being so much to wake you up. Haven't had a chance to try it yet.

Also the spin move... is that something that can be done regularly in the dream, like 20-30 second intervals to keep from losing stability? Or is it just to be used if you feel like you are losing it?

There is another method I'd like to try that I haven't seen anyone else suggest.
In your LD, find, or carry around a little ball that you can feel the textures on. I've read how touching objects in a LD will help solidify it, so having a little ball at all times to help solidify might help. Just a thought.

      "I feel my heart glow
with enthusiasm which elevates me to heaven; for nothing contributes so much to tranquillise the mind as a steady purpose--a point
on which the soul may fix its intellectual eye."

How about always holding your hand in front of your face during an LD? Will help to remind you to hand rub too, and you could number the fingers 1 to 5, with each finger representing a specific action: eg, 1 spin, 2 observe environment 3 eat something 4 smell something etc.

(ETWOLD recommends saying, "I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming" over and over.

Also, one I want to do is make something like a fireman's pole appear in my bedroom. I'll be able to slide down and up. The idea is, the pole would be textured so would function as a hand rub, and I would have to shout "up!" or "down!" as a command to make it work. My house would have like 10000 floors and each one would have a different theme, all chosen by my dreaming mind. When I see a floor I like I simply jump off my pole.

      NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I hate chewing gum in a lucid. XD If I try to spit it out, there's always still more in my mouth. I don't know why that is, but it's really annoying. And only with gum--never dream food. Seriously, I have wasted entire dreams trying to get dream gum out of my mouth because the feeling is so annoying.

Hmm, that's interesting Naiya and why I wanted to ask first. Never liked gum myself in waking life anyway. Well I wouldn't be in a hurry to try holding your hand out in front of your face either. That has made me wake up in the past. But carrying a ball in your hand? That sounds good, maybe a small stone. It could double as a Wotai Stone (A native American spiritual tradition). Also, you could toss it up and catch it from time to time.

Hand rubbing works. I decided to spin a dream - did nothing except made me dizzy.

Guess I'll try hand rubbing. I know when I felt the sides of my dream body it almost instantly woke me up. Should it wake you up touching your sides? Or do you think that time was just a fluke?

No idea. You could jump, look at your hands, or look at your watch. All of those help me.
