Does Lucid Dreaming Increase Your Chances of SP?

I am REALLY scared of getting SP. Not just scared, scared enough to want to quit trying to LD and scared enough to not want to sleep at all. I've been flicking through LD forums and SP is commonly mentioned, and I was wondering if LDing increases the chances of SP?

I have a vivid imagination, and I don't even want to think about what could happen

unless you already have had SP naturally or are very prone to it I would say no

I have never really experienced it even though I have been having lucid dreams for like a year- at most all I get is a very relaxed/sleepy state
TAKE DV members advice with caution! some have had zero or 1-2 LD's yet act like gurus

That's good to know - I just panicked b/c my dad used to see all sorts of crazy shit at night when he was a kid (he's probably just insane tho lmao) and my mum mentioned that she'd had them before, and saw horrible things.

hifhhgjhfhfd she even told me she had one the month before, when I was sleeping in the same room as her b/c we were in a temp. rental. I remember hearing her call out for jesus

You get SP every night, it's just when you're conscious through it that you experience such things.
SP is affected by your thoughts like dreams are. If you're truly expecting it to be horrible, it will be. I know, it's hard to get those thoughts out of your head, but just think about an interesting pattern or something like that. If it doesn't mess up your HI/SP, try drawing a pattern in your mind.

I'm not trying to scare you, but in my case i've had more frequent sp. Not from trying to lucid dream exactly, but more specifically from trying the WILD technique frequently. Ever since i have been trying to WILD frequently, i've been getting sp a lot more frequently. Sometimes the sp comes because i'm trying to WILD, but sometimes it occurs when i'm not making a conscious effort to WILD. But there is no reason to be scared of sp. I've had a couple of scary experiences, but i'm better off from having them. Now that i know what to expect, even the "scary" experiences are kind of fun. Also, just like TomSnare said; if i think positively about the experience, it can be quite enjoyable. In my opinion, sp is a very calming and fun experience.

Pretty much what i'm trying to say is, sp is nothing to be afraid of, because no matter how real it may seem; nothing in sp can hurt you. So just buckle up, and enjoy the ride.

I have experienced full blown, "Holy shit, what the fuck is going on," SP only once before, after waking up from a LD. And this was after I had been LDing for awhile. From my experience, I would say that LDing does in fact increase your chances of experiencing legit, hardcore, SP, albeit, only slightly.

      Take that as you will.
