      First Proper Lucid

I got my first proper lucid last night

I woke up by accident at 6:15 ish and went to the bathroom, didn't get a drink because that wakes me up too much and went back to bed to try a WILD. The time seemed to go at an extraordinary speed and what seemed like 5 minutes to me was about 55, it was 7:10 when I gave up on my WILD.

I got a bit fed up and just asked myself politely if i could just please have a lucid dream that night because I have WILD'ed nearly every night and done reality checks every 15 minutes and have never had a proper lucid. I fell asleep shortly after and went into a lucid dream for 10 minutes which turned lucid at some point, I'm not sure how though.

I tried passively controlling the dream by walking up some stairs and imagining a girl who my previous dream had in it as I could remember think of her features near perfectly. I turned round at the top of the stairs and about 5 girls were there all with a relatively similar look and I couldn't see her anywhere but some girl just attached herself to me for some reason and she seemed to know me so I went along with it, I did have a bit of control in the dream but not really.

My dad was in there as a DC and some other guy who I have now forgot and they were both really happy that I was aware that I was dreaming, I'm now wondering if the DC in the image of my dad could be my dream guide as during the dream they helped me stay lucid a bit longer, I'll have to have more to see though. I'm just glad I don't have the DC's that are unhappy with you being lucid.

The only real problem about this dream is that I was expecting it to be a bit different, from reading about other people's lucid dreams I had always thought that lucid dreams seemed like real life but to me it all still seemed a bit dreamy, any idea's about this at all?

Oh, and when I asked myself if I could become lucid. Is that a mild?

LDs vary in clarity levels. The extremely clear/vivid/detailed dreams can look and feel exactly like real life. Some dreams can be so unstabile that it is hard to even see straight. Of course dreams can also fall anywhere in between. I suggest performing some stabilization techniques immediately after becoming lucid. This can help the detail and clarity, making the dream much more life-like.

As for whether the dream was a MILD, it is a bit difficult to tell from your information. MILDs and DILDs are very similar sometimes. Both can be performed with autosuggestion (which is what you used, btw). Generally, a MILD is where you recognize a dream sign or perform a RC in order to become lucid. DILDs are when you randomly become lucid within the dream or become lucid from a RC routine. I suggest reading the difference between the two and thinking back to your dream in order to classify it. Here is the link for both,

Hope this helped a bit. Good luck in your future efforts!

Ah ok, it was a DILD then

I was going to do try and stabilise the dream a bit more but I just kind of forgot in my excitement

Yeah, I was about to say, "If I had to guess, I would guess DILD." Its good to try and get into the habit of immediately stabilizing after becoming lucid. Once you do it a few times, it'll be easier to remember .
