Had a dream about a spirit in my room

I had a rather odd dream last night, and it was prefaced by me hearing things in real life prior to passing out. I was trying to go to sleep, and I could swear I heard a voice in the house. It was a subtle lull, and it sounded like a television commercial. But I know that was not the case because the only other person in the house was asleep, no televisions were left on, and there's no cable where I live. That was weird, but whatever...I was tired and probably imagining things.

In the dream itself, I dreamt I was...well...in the same place as when I went to sleep. I was awake, but with my eyes closed. I couldn't see much of anything, but I could somehow feel things, and I felt a spirit presence in my room near me. Not an evil presence, but just one that was there. I did not open my eyes in the dream to look around at what was going on, but I felt the foot of my bed depress, as if someone sat on it.

Then I had a strange experience where I felt this spirit descend on me from above, and I imagined feeling a tingling sensation all over my body. It's at this point I rolled over and said, "Who are you?" out loud. Then I felt this spirit lift back out of my body and lay down beside me on my bed on the other pillow. I could not discern facial features, and I didn't get a completely clear view of this spirit, but I do remember it had a blue glow. They said their name was Matt. The rest is incredibly vague...I know the spirit hung around after that, but I don't know what else went on.

This seemed weird. My house is not haunted, but I dare say I don't honestly know for sure if this was a dream or not. I'm not sure what the significance of the name was...I know two people named Matt, but why they'd appear in a dream eludes me.

Just...wow. No more mints right before bed.

      This was astral projection.

You were also experiencing hypnogogic hallucinations, and probably SP.

      huuu...
      interesting experience!

some time ago i had a similar one:
it was midnight when i started meditating at my 3. eye - after minutes i could see images and colours. this went for 1/2 hour before i stopped. i was so tired that night that i felt immediatly asleep after the exercise.
while i was sleeping i heard a buzz and openend my dreameyes where i could see my dark room. i turned my head to the left side where the window was covered by the curtain and all of a sudden i saw a spirit hovering over my beds brother.
i thought: "shittt! there´s someone in the room!"
i woke up in hurry to see that no one was in the house.
that was a bit scary to me altough i am not afraid of seeing "spirits" or any kind of visions. i was just afraid of being unable to handle due to the tiredness.

who knows what it was, a spirit or a HH!?
      i dont care

No it wasn't. Supernatural discussion should be limited to Beyond Dreaming.

It really confuses me when I have realistic dreams about things happening in my house/neighborhood. This happens almost every morning when I get up. :\

I...don't think it was sleep paralysis. I've had that happen before, and I know I wasn't actually awake during this to realize I was unable to move in the first place. But thanks very much for the input; HH didn't even cross my mind.

And yes, CarmineEternity, it confuses me when things like that happen to me too. And I hate when I have a dream where I absolutely cannot remember what it was about, or it was about something completely unrealistic, but I wake up asking myself, "Was that a dream, or did that really happen?"

Should I take this to the Beyond Dreaming forum?
