      First LD

Hello All, my name is Ryan and ive only been training to LD since 11/20/09 and i had my very first LD 11/22/09! i dont know if this is a quick time period to have a first LD but still, it was one. Or atleast i beleive it was.

I had gone thru my breathing meditations and physical muscle relaxations and pictured by body almost going thru the movement of the pirate ship ride at most carnivals. (read i should do something like that on some forum tutorial) After this i lost conciousness but i guess woke up in the middle of it?

Everything was black and i had immiediate awareness of dreaming. I can remember perfectly saying, " Wow! I actually did it! Im having my first lucid! Ok...what do i do know?" And then i relized that i didnt have my sense of sight. After that i began thinking to myslef in my dream, what do i do to have my sight? so i tried to remember tutorials which brought me to remeber to imagine opening up my dream bodies eyes. It was almost impossible to do because of what i now know of SP(i think?) in doing this i woke up and didnt remeber the entire LD until the next morning in School at around noon. It hit me like a bag of bricks and i just started to laugh in the middle of class. I love all of these new experiences and the community it has.

Epic! Sounds like you've got a well honed mind. It's mostly about willpower and concentration.

I'm by no means an expert, but maybe you just weren't expecting a LD to happen so soon? I mean, sure you were concentrating and trying to induce one, but maybe you just didn't expect to get one that night, so you were set back ever so slightly. But even though you didn't have sight, you were certainly aware of your surroundings.

The fact that you became lucid at all is an accomplishment! congratulatons! Keep trying, don't worry... You'll have your sight soon.

Well, you have to realize, first of all, that meditation doesn't have to be a night long endevour. Meditation can take 5 minutes or 5 hours, it's up to you completely.

But yeah, sometimes, the things we want come when we stop stressing over it.

Forget what you see on TV, don't expect to just sit in lotus position and just slip into the dream world. Lucid dreaming is supposed to be done while you're sleeping, and not interupt your waking life, y'know?

Meditation helps, yes, but don't be excessive. It's just necessary to calm your mind, and focus on what you want. If you want to spend a half hour doing that, by all means, but don't overdo it.

oh i know. im not saying that i get my square pillow out and go all buddah. its just me lying there focusing on my breathing and relaxing my body. I only do that for about 15 minuets or for however long i actaully do feel relaxed as a result of it. Ive learned over the last few days to just do it because of the relaxation and not the end result of an LD and i get close to SP faster. But still havnt had my 2nd LD. oh well. it well happen eventually, and i cant wait!

That's the spirit, man! Just be happy, look forward to your next one. it'll come. Eventually, you'll learn how to induce them at will. it just takes practice.

My advice: keep on with the meditation. it can only help you.
