Hypnagogic imagery better than being lucid?

Ive been reading a book about dreaming. H. Imagery has a lot of potential to conjure up anything you want. You are concious when your in this state and some say that you can have premonitions. In fact this book says that David Melbourne has trained himself to stay in the H Imagery state as long as he wishes and he can conjure up situations with his friends. He saw a snake go up one of his friends and make him leave in that state. He thought that meant there was a third party to making his friend not like him. The next time he saw that friend he observed for a 3rd party and engaged in conversation with that person and his friend felt more confortable around him.

I wonder how he taught himself this and I dont intend to do stuff like this... I want to be a good lucid dreamer before I do this.

I am still skeptical about seeing the future and in this state it gave a hint but didn't completely do it.

Im currently reading about a lady named Barbara Garwell...this... this indeed is really interesting! I will keep you informed when I have more time.

Sounds like a boatload of bull honkey to me, and this should probably be in Beyond Dreaming.
For starters, being able to consistently see HI is NOT a good thing. Secondly, it just sounded like placebo.
Basically being given a sugar pill and being told it will relieve your cold, you think it will and so it does, he just
talked to his friend again under the placebo that he solved the problem and probably was behaving normally and that made his friend relax.

lucid dreaming is way better than HI
Law abiding citizen by day, breaking the laws of reality by night.

I've had somewhat lucid hypnagogic imagery, and I found it rather disappointing, 'cause it's so much less stable and vivid than REM dreams. The HI shifts (and I think I lose awareness that I'm experiencing HI) before I can do much of anything. I like DILDs best...the stability and vividness of the imagery are better than any other kind of lucid dream or imagery, and my ability to remain asleep tends to be pretty good.

No dream goals at the moment...just flying and letting stuff happen is kinda fun, and it's hard to motivate myself to try LDing lately.

Hypnogogic Imagery can be AMAZING...but it's like watching an incredible movie. Lucid dreaming is actually being IN it and living the movie. Completely different and not even comparable in my opinion.
