      Question Missing Senses?

Well, I'm pressed for time so I'll be frank:

      __________________________________________

Senses that are normal/realistic in dreams:
      • Sight
      • Hearing
      • Textures

Senses that I lack in dreams:
      • Smell
      • Taste
      • Balance
      • Temperature

      __________________________________________________ ______-

How can I activate these senses in my dream? It would make it FAR more realistic....

Smell- smell something strong in reality, preferably something you dislike, smelly sox etc..then repeat it in your dream
Taste- eat your favourite food in a dream should start a taste sense
Balance- when dreaming imagine a pole straight thru your head to the ground, see if it improves balance
Temperature-touch something hot or cold, the stove, a candle light, a fire, a snowball, a ice cube etc jump in a freezing lack or really take some time to watch the sun and imagine yourself feeling it on your skin, it should increase your temperature awareness.

On your next lucid please attempt some of these or even just 1 at first and make sure you get back to me, i have a ton of other idea's to help and would like to know if any of these are successful.

Very interesting! I now experience only different variations on sight/light and thought/speech.

It is interesting to meet people who are trying to make the dream world like the real world, isn't that boring? Wouldn't you want it to be as different from this place as possible? I myself have been eradicating the senses that hinder my more progressive dreams. What does a nebula smell like?

Alot of us actually enjoy real life. infact if you dont like life then theres little reason in existing then is there? he wants to be able to see smell and have a experience that feels as real as possible without the basic limitations.

Hmmmm... I can definitely see the desire to experience these things in as sharp a contrast as possible, but as far as limiting 'real life' (i.e. the waking world) to the physical plane, it seems terribly limiting. My goal is to use dreaming to push the boundaries of 'real life' experience. I only use a few 'physical' senses in my LDs, because I enjoy other means of perceiving it. For example: Can you smell intent? Can you feel the texture of a concept?

We only enjoy real life because it is all we have had access to for most of our existences. Imagine a hypothetical child who dreams in a coma for the first 5 years of its life. What will it think of this world when it 'wakes' up? The purpose for existing is exploration of perception, and in that, I feel that we agree.
