New to the world of you Lucid Kids!

      Hi!

I have been reading alot of these forums within the last, 3 days or so. It can all be so confusing at times but I am slowly getting the hang of it. I THINK!

Correct me if I am wrong! Please. - While reading this, nod your head to my questions and the things I say, or frown at the things I've gotten wrong, then tell me. ( :

WILD is popular???? Right? This is a method which works for quite a few members of the board and the lucid dreaming community? And WAKE Initiated Lucid Dreams is to set some sort of gentle alarm in the middle of you REM cycle. So you estimate some sort of time? Say around 12am or something. After turning this off you focus on your breathing, or perhaps even a visual landscape (V-WILD), and you focus on slipping into this landscape, every so often doing reality checks (like breathing through a pinched nose) until you realise you are infact dreaming, then becoming lucid. CORRECT? Do people find this a useful technique to becoming lucid?

Then after WILD you can FILD by gently moving your fingers.. I forgot the signifgance of this so I am going to forget it for now.

Uh, Sleep Paralysis. When you WILD (wake by alarm during the night) you recognise your body feel numb or as though its asleep. Its abnormal and unlike the feeling of your woken body. Upon noticing this you do a RC (Reality Check) and see whether it is you are still in your sleepy bed or in your dreeam world!

One other thing. I remember reading in the thread '90 days of WILD' (I think) that there was some '....' where the person could hear their music from their ipod very loud in their ears even though they hadn't had it in. This happens to me sometimes. I would hear a song very clear and then quickly snap out of it and recognise what just happened. The same sort of thing happens with vivid moving images in my head - I would snap out of it and notice. Does this have a certain name and should I just do reality checks often?

Tell me, what technique works best for you? What is the most popular and sucessful technique? Do I really need to understand all these abbreviations or should I find them relevant when I need to experiment with another technique?

I am kinda slow sometimes so I really appreciate your simplified help.

      THANKYOU all! (HUGS)!

WILD does not require an alarm. It means to pass directly from waking consciousness into a dream. However, people often set an alarm because we sleep in stages. At the beginning of the night, very little dreaming occurs but later in the night dreams are longer and time between them shorter.

WILDs can be done during daytime naps.

You want to experiment, but setting an alarm to go off after about 5 or 6 hours of sleep is a good place to start.

Check out Seeker's “The Five Phases of WILD” tutorial here for some info about sleep paralysis and hynagogic hallucinations (the ipod thing): http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ead.php?t=9806

Read some more about reality checks. Your method of doing them “every so often” can be improved upon. You can also RC when you experience strong emotions, see/reminded of a dream sign, see something weird, just think about dreams, etc...

      From Naiya's tutorial (http://www.dreamviews.com/community/....php?t=61802):

      Reality Check Addendum

The problem with RCs is that a lot of times, people just mindlessly go “am I dreaming?” and without even considering it, they think “no,” and then totally forget about it. This does absolutely nothing to help you get lucid.

When you do a reality check, don't ask if you're dreaming. Assume that you ARE dreaming. Now ask, “why do I think this is real?”

Example of a GOOD answer: “I think this is real because I remember waking up, getting dressed and driving here. I can remember in detail what I had for breakfast. When I toss a pen into the air and try to make it float, I can't do it.” This works because you are testing you surroundings and memories against LOGIC. Not only that, but you're physically testing reality. If you want, you can try the classics such as looking at your hands or holding your nose to test reality.

Example of a BAD answer: “This feels real.” While you'll never confuse your waking life with a dream, ALL of your non-lucids will always “feel real.”

Lastly, it seems like the DV community has more success with DILD.

Right. Thanks. I'll read some DILD tutorials..

By the looks of that diagram we come in and out of dreams during the night. Is that why we sometimes have a set of 4/5 dreams with different story lines in them?

I had other questions but totally forgot them. Will come back to this thread if I remember them.

Hello, for your information, WILD isn't one technique, there are a lot of variations. FILD is one of them. Here's a link with most techniques. That should clarify things for you. Also here's a list with abbreviations.

I don't want to overload you with information, but how is your dream recall? Being able to recall at least one dream a night is important.

My dream recall I think is pretty good. I use to keep a hobby dream journal.. Last night was my second night of writing down my dreams in my new dream journal and I recalled about 5 dreams (not vividly though). Though like people have said, within a nights or weeks to come my recall will get better and I will be able to record these dreams with vivid detail. Is that what you were asking?

I am going to try the WILD technique following these instructions, http://www.dreamviews.com/community/...ead.php?t=9806, posted by Requiem (thankyou). I often do notice the dream transition with the loud noises and images, but pay no attention to it and just slip into a non-lucid dream. So tonight I will try and watch them and stabilise a lucid dream, hopefully.

That was what is was asking. If you recalled five dreams last night, you don't have anything to worry about. Good luck with your WILD attempt.

Alright, went to bed way too late (it was almost 1am) - a bad habit of mine. But woke up this morning and slept in and I think I may have felt a bit of SP but I shook it off. I'm gonna try again tonight perhaps.
