      Talking WILDing with no experiece.

I know lucid dreaming for a long time now. I first heard of it way back in 2003 or something, and since then I've been on and off during sparse periods analyzing, studying and trying. As you guys can see, I'm registered here since 2007, but I never really posted, only read. Well, now that I got some time and more interest about it, I want to actually get my hands dirty, instead of just trying for a couple weeks and forgetting about it.

I've had a few lucid dreams in the past, mostly DILDs, and I also started a very short lived dream jounal in the past, which I am updating its structure and I'm looking foward to register information on it everyday.

Well, so, like most amateurs, I want a quickstart. I gathered all the info about methods and tips that I could, added to those that I already knew, and I decided my approach, even if my choice is not effective for now, and may not be for some time.

That's what I wanted your opnions about. I chose WILD. Even not having a great dream recall as of yet, (was better in the past, but I can easily work on it) and not a lot experiece with it, I chose it and I started trying yesterday, using the simple method of setting an alarm clock to wake me up 90 minutes before I usually do, and then going right back into bed, trying to focus in WILDing. This morning, I was able to recall a dream, and, believe it or not, I counted two false awakenings followed by real ones after the reality check.

About my method, what do you guys can suggest/comment about it? In my current position, what are the do's and dont-do's?

I know it's fairly soon to be posting this question, and I should just see for myself for this next couple of weeks, but I just wanted to start posting, and therefore I didn't wanted to do it from nowhere. So here's my startpoint. And hello there again dreamviews .

PS: Sorry if I should have posted this under the newbie forum, I felt that here was more adequade since I'm not exactly a complete newbie, and this is not exactly a "what is ld?" thread. Mods, feel free to move if I'm wrong.

Illuminatuz, I understand that you have a good amount of knolwedge just reading on the forums, and I have a suggestion. You don't have to listen to me, but I suggest you take this advice. Try MILDing, if you aren't familiar what it is, check out the tutorial section if you haven't already. I am currently attempting MILD's but no success yet. It was one of the popular methods, but I don't have much else to say about it. I think that after you are comfortable and had at least a few lucid dreams so that you would be more familiar with the lucid dreaming process and so on. WILD's are commonly found to be the easiest "sounding" methods, but it is a common misconception. They are probably one of the hardest of the methods out there, and I suggest you wait a little bit before you try it.

But then again, its just my two cents. Meaning a few lucid dreams, I don't mean DILD's because they are mainly the luck that an RC happened during a dream, or you just happend to realize you are dreaming.

Anyways, which ever path you take, good luck,

Thanks for the feedback ClearView. I guess I can try both at the same time, if WILD fails, I can still hope to rc on the dream. Will sure get more used to rc during the day.

I've had some success with WILDing if my roommate wakes me up after 7-8 hours of sleep. I tell myself I'm dreaming and he's not really awake yet and that the sounds are in my head, etc. I can fall back asleep very quickly, so it doesn't really involve the sort of meditative/non-motion part of WILD, but I get myself in an "I'm dreaming" mindset from the waking state. I then have a decently good chance of dropping straight into a dream already lucid and set to go.
