      Question Let Down.

Well for the first time, I told myself in my dream that I was dreaming. I repeated it over and over again. Though I didn't control the dream, and it was probably a false LD. This is probably a repeated question, but how can you tell the difference between a LD and a false LD? I mean, I told myself in my dream "I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming" repeating it. I was pretty bummed that I didn't listen to myself.

Same thing happened to me once. I told myself twice in the dream, "I must be dreaming," but I was never in control. Control, in combination with being aware, is the essence of lucid dreaming. If you weren't both, it wasn't a true lucid.

However, keep looking for things to train yourself with because maybe the next time you say, "I must be dreaming," you might actually be!

Did you know you were dreaming? Or were you just repeating the words in your dream out of habit, without actually being aware that you were dreaming at that moment?

There isn't really such thing as a false Lucid. Well, if you know you are dreaming and it turns out that you are not dreaming after all! I guess that could be considered a false Lucid.

Control isn't something you need to have to be Lucid. A true Lucid Dream is simply knowing you are dreaming. Dream control can be had when not Lucid as well.

If you weren't completely aware that it was a dream, it wasn't lucid. It is possible that you were lucid but you just didn't have control. Control with come with time, practice, and confidence.

Like the others have said, if you consciously realized you were in a dream and not awake, you were lucid. Control is never guaranteed.

Ah I see. I think it was me saying it because I say it out of habit before I sleep. It was so funny because last night the same thing happened, but instead of my dream ending it kept going and I got totally distracted because someone stole my car and burned it

Hah, DCs can really steal lucidity from you. The things they get up to...
