Same thing happened to me once. I told myself twice in the dream, "I must be dreaming," but I was never in control. Control, in combination with being aware, is the essence of lucid dreaming. If you weren't both, it wasn't a true lucid. |

Well for the first time, I told myself in my dream that I was dreaming. I repeated it over and over again. Though I didn't control the dream, and it was probably a false LD. This is probably a repeated question, but how can you tell the difference between a LD and a false LD? I mean, I told myself in my dream "I'm dreaming, I'm dreaming" repeating it. I was pretty bummed that I didn't listen to myself. |

Did you know you were dreaming? Or were you just repeating the words in your dream out of habit, without actually being aware that you were dreaming at that moment? |

If you weren't completely aware that it was a dream, it wasn't lucid. It is possible that you were lucid but you just didn't have control. Control with come with time, practice, and confidence. |

Like the others have said, if you consciously realized you were in a dream and not awake, you were lucid. Control is never guaranteed. |

Ah I see. I think it was me saying it because I say it out of habit before I sleep. It was so funny because last night the same thing happened, but instead of my dream ending it kept going and I got totally distracted because someone stole my car and burned it |

Hah, DCs can really steal lucidity from you. The things they get up to... |
