Different Marijuana STRAINS, Methods of Consumption, Times of Day, etc. - Effects on LDing / Recall

Thisclaimer: To those of you who classify yourselves as severely 'AD(H)D', or something to that effect, you may want to de-classsify yourself, or scroll down to the last paragraph-and-a-statement. Likewise the latter to those of you who start to feel the rumblings of redundancy in your brains.

Okay, so I have seen quite a few threads discussing the relationship between marijuana and dreaming, but these threads contained a lot of posts such as "I smoke pot, and my recall sucksss blahhhh"... Not exactly in-depth description.
Yes, I have observed the number of people who identify marijuana and (lucid) dreaming as conflicting elements, and the 'generalized' linkage of marijuana ingestion/consumption/enjoyment/massive-bong-rippage-from-atop-ladders/etc with poor dream recall, but I think this all warrants deeper 'inspection', if you will. Looking deeper than that 12-foot bong shaped like a dragon wearing a miniskirt you have tucked away in your closet. (My closet? No...)

Anyways, there is a lot more complexity and diversity in the world of pot than the depth (or lack thereof) of what I have commonly experienced in cannabis conversations and commentations. There is overall a great deal of variety in the compounds and their quantities of which different crops and strains of cannabis consist. It goes quite a ways beyond the simple 'THC', that often gets tossed around like some lame catch-phrase on 'TV'. Other cannabinoids, and still other compounds, such as terpenes (hydrocarbons that people have come to find affecting not just the taste and smell of different bud, but also the high itself, and the medicinal application) take a role in the effects of cannabis. (I pulled up a couple pages quick, regarding terpenes for you. Interesting stuff: Understanding Terpenes and how they affect your high, How to improve the quality of the high from a low quality bud - the magic of Terpenes)

"Ingestion of essential oils beta-myrcene and limonene can inhibit inflammation. This is one reason Myrcene in cannabis is so important!
Myrcene is highly antimicrobial, antiseptic, analgesic, bactericidal, and an antioxidant."

From what I have found, there is significant difference in different strains' effectiveness in treating various ailments and discomforts. There is significant difference in the potency of different marijuana crops across the world. There is a large difference in the smoking habits/schedules/420clocks/whatever of different people. There is the examination of smoking as a method of consumption in the first place. What about those of you who vaporize, take THC oil, eat edibles, 'solar puff' (smoking with a dose of sunshine and a (magnifying) glass), make tea, combine different methods, etc?

I am particularly interested (and I imagine quite a few of you are as well) in the marijuana consumption of those who experience positive effects (or lack of negative effects) in the ways of lucid dreaming and dream recall. What strains have you been using, what method(s) do you use for taking in your cannabis? Approximately how 'much' (yes, there can be a huge variance here due to all the factors), how often, what time of day, your sleep habits, time periods and commas between smoking, (what else did you consume?) do you like spicy lemonade, etc? Do you partake during WILD/WBTB/...? I don't have anything to share about pot and dreams myself at this time, but...

I am curious to see what might emerge here.

Weed causes 4,000% increased in melatonin..so that's probably why it fucks up dream recall and makes you tired...burned out....melatonin supplements can help with this.

I made a thread a while ago saying that cannabis can cause you have to HAVE wake-induced-lucid-dreams...i almost had one. I had the hypnagogic hallucinations start from it. Cannabis relaxes the body ten-fold...which is really all that's required for a wild.....and to keep your mind awake. The fear and paranoia that occur when trying to get to this state was hard...FOR ME....but deep breathing probably fixes this.

There's no doubt in my mind that weed takes you to the subconscious mind....just like any other psychedelic drug.

I really don't think different strains have anything to to with it..it's all THC. All cannabis buds hit the same receptor(s).

sorry if this wasn't what you were looking for. think i am add sometimes

I'm sorry but I strongly disagree my friend. In fact I believe that different strains may have everything to do with it.. While you're right, all bud does contain the main cannabinoid THC, they also contain a lesser known, though equally important cannabinoid called "CBD" (Cannabidiol). CBD increases some of the effects of THC, while decreasing others. High levels of THC and low levels of CBD contribute to a strong, clear headed, more energetic high, and vice versa. Now depending on the balance of these two main chemicals (along with alot of other less important ones) plus the time given for the trichromes to mature before harvest determines the type of high your going to get. That chemical balance of cannabinoids is strictly dependent on the strain of marijuana being grown. As anything else living in the world, plants have a genetic makeup, meaning each strain is different, even though they may have similar traits (or in this case, effects). What would be the point of selling different strains if there is no difference between them and the effect they induce?

Now that being said, I'm not sure how effective this information would be unless one either has their medical card and can buy legit strains, or are growing it themselves with legit seeds from a seed bank. No dealer on the street is sure of what they are selling, they all make up names for their bud, and you just can't rely on what people tell you they have. Even if you were to come across something you could actually identify, which does occasionally happen (thank god my friend harvested last month) it will probably be a limited supply so enjoy it while it lasts. My point being most of the time, atleast around here, the bud changes. It's always good, but it's not always the same, so there's no real way to tell you what strain I'm smoking for research purposes.

Please keep us (or atleast me) posted on any of your findings, they would be interesting and probably useful for a avid smoker/oneironaut such as myself.

I smoked yesterday. And i think I almost had a cannabis-induced lucid dream. I believe weed can "induce" hypnagogic hallucinations...I say this because this is the second time i've had HH from weed which might have something to do with the 4,000% increase in melatonin. The first time the HH was light and uncontrollable........this time it was more detailed and i could control it.

Anything you focus on while high from weed is increased tenfold. I layed down and listened to the fan and it sounded louder more, clear and lucid. Then when I closed my eyes I visualized something, it was like it instantly appeared in the form of HH. Visualizing when high on weed isn't like sober visuzliing.....it seemed more lucid.

After that ( while eyes were still closed ), I just tried to go to sleep and there was a little box in my field-of-view with moving images....it started to get bigger ..I just observed it, but i can't remember what it was. But i DO know it was just a bunch of random and spontaneous stuff.....AND my eyes was moving around fast as I watched it....so this made me think I was in REM.

I'm going to start taking melatonin supplements again and will probally smoke again this weekend. All this makes me realize how UNlucid I am in waking life. Walking around lost in thought.

By the way I only used a 5 dollar bag of mid-grade. My tolerance for weed is low...I haven't smoked in a while.

I don't smoke weed often. Maybe once or twice on the weekend...maybe not at all. I smoked a bit of weed last night...I had probably 3 hits from a batty, maybe 4. I would say that I wasn't even high anymore when I went to sleep. But I did have a strange thing occur to me that I think had to do with weed, specifically because of what my dream was about. Well, my ACTUAL dream was about going on this trip...but right before I woke up it was like this unconnected image in my brain, in my dream. There was this man who was talking about his addiction to Valium, and how he did not think that "slowing down time" greatly affected his functioning.
The reason I connect this with weed is obvious, for the time-distortion affects. I have also been struggling with myself as to whether or not weed is good for me personally, because it does have strange affects on me.

After the man in my "dream" said this, I heard this clicking noise. It sounded electronical, and the closest thing I can relate it to is the sound of a tape being ejected from a VCR. This sound woke me up and seemed to be coming from the wall I was facing. As soon as I opened my eyes, I had this sensation that there were...tracers of what was just there a second ago. I felt as though there had just been a projecting box that had just slid back into the wall. I felt as though there had been light that had just faded away.
I felt as though my forehead had this feeling of tracers on it as well. It felt as though it had JUST been illuminated a second ago. Like the lightbulb of my forehead had just been turned off...I relate this feeling to my third eye.
At first it felt like maybe something was recording my thoughts....but the more I thought about it, the more it really felt like something was projecting this image in my head. It really felt like it came from outside me.

What I heard is, in scientific terms, called Hypnagogia. Hypnogogia is usually thought of as the time between sleep and wakefulness. I have had symptoms of hypnagogia that manifested when I was awake and walking around but, yes, high from weed. The most common thing I have had is hearing voices that seem to be making comments on my thoughts. Usually I "hear" the voices as if they come from people around me...but those people are not really talking about me to me or at all, as is confirmed by friends I am with. I will also see people do things sometimes when I am high...things like give me the thumbs up or waving their arms around or just generally being excited. Again, it has been confirmed by others with me that I am the only one that sees people do these things. I have only had these experiences of seeing/hearing things after I smoke weed.
The more weed I smoke, the more intense the situation is. That is why I try to only take around 3 hits, but sometimes my boredom/curiosity gets the best of me.

I used to hear people saying BAD things, it is interesting to note. When i was high, I would hear people make fun of me, or comment on my thoughts in a bad way. I wanted to stay away from weed because of that...but I didn't. Then it slowly transformed two summers ago into people trying to PARTY with me....so "hearing things" didn't seem so bad when what I was hearing turned positive.
