      Lucid Beginner Seeking Help

Hey everyone, this is my first time posting. I heard about Lucid dreaming from my friends really awesome aunt. As soon as i heard of the idea of controlling a dream i googled it immediately. I just have a few questions.

I started my dream journal last night and was curious how many dreams i should be recalling each night and how much about them? I was able to remember four but very little of each one. Most could be described in a sentence and some took two.

Also, when i start my reality checks, should I try to do it when i see a recurring dreamsign? If I usually draem about one particular friend should I do a RC whenever I see him throughout the day? Or should it be something more random?

Also? How long did it take all you guys to have ur first LD after you first started your dream journals?

Also, Be Here Now is a great book and I encourage everyone to read it. Thanks

      Re: Lucid Beginner Seeking Help

Sorry it's taken so long to get a response , but Welcome to DV!

If possible, you should try to rememebr at least one dream with enough detail to begin picking out dreamsigns.
Whenever you run into a dreamsign in waking reality, you should reality check. It also helps to find some event you do often during the day, like opening a door, and reality checking there as well

I had my first LD years before I ever heard of a dream journal or reality checks, so I won't be much help answering that one.

I've never heard of that book before, what is it about?
you must be the change you wish to see in the world...

Its all about Bobaramdas (excuse my spelling). He was a physicologist that was really into his carreer and got really rich and had all of these material things but still felt empty. Then one of his patients got him interested in pot and he started experimenting with a lot of drugs and he eventually moved to India and left his old superficial life behind. The first part of the book is his story and then the middle is all of these lessons and his philosophy about your ego. It was what really started making me think about everything differently. I encourage everyone to read it.
Also, I saw this book called "Lucid Dreaming: A concise Guide to Awakening in Your Dreams and in Your Life". It also came with a CD that has guided meditation and inductions for lucid dreaming. I figured I'd give it a shot and if it ends up working ill make sure to let everyone know.

Hey, I have started reading my book and learing more about dreamsigns. I do not know how to recognize my dream sign however. In the 5 dreams I have written about in my journal, they are all pretty much just weird situations having nothing to do with one another. They usually involve friends or other kids at school I know. There are no purple cats or lightbulbs that won't work? Anyone else have this problem or have a suggestion as what i could use as a dreamsign?

sometimes it's more subtle than a purple cat or things of that nature. something more subtle could be people talking in weird languages yet you still understand them... or even communicating with people without even opening your mouth or vice-versa. strange clothing is sometimes a cue, like if your professor is teaching class in a monk robe or a tuxedo... it doesn't stand out too much but it's definitely off. different strokes.
